just update firefox to the latest version and now get this error when i try to start it error launching browser window: no xbl binding for browser any ideas..... vengance or anyone???
I had problems with it this morning, Smeg - even had to use the b*stard explorer...*shudders* But I tried it again after 5 minutes and having no problems now. Maybe a re-start will fix the problem.
i think it means one of your extensions is messed up or outdated. i had that problem, i had to uninstall all my extensions, then reinstall them. i think i had accidently put 2 versions of the same one or something like that. its a real pain in the butt. http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/releases/fix-extensions.html
Firefox does not update like normal programs on Windows. You must uninstall the old version first, then install the new one.
Vengeance would respond, but his Firefox isn't loading this morning for some reason... hang in there guys... j/k.
Uninstall the previous version, then install 1.0 PR. It should ask you about importing your settings from a previous version, and then it'll work just great. But there's a chance you might also need to delete your profile, and have Firefox recreate it. That's the ideal way to re-install, but sometimes you don't have to. Let us know if that works. http://www.spreadfirefox.com
i removed all previous versions and then installed the latest... done a restart still the same error do i uninstall again and remove everything will this lose my bookmarks etc
ok uninstalled all versions.. including the mozilla/firefox folder reinstalled version 10 and then restarted..same fricking error
i renamed all the chrome folder.. damn there were a few and now i am back vengence whats the best to fix this properly
Best way is to grab your bookmarks.html file out of your profile (to save your bookmarks), then delete your firefox profile, then start up 1.0 PR. It'll create a new profile for you. Drop your bookmarks.html file into your new profile and you'll be good. It looks likely that you won't need to do this again, b/c the newer Firefox will handle updates a bit differently (read, properly!). It also does a good job of keeping on top of not allowing you to install extensions and themes that break it. BTW, you probably had a heck of a time using IE, eh? I had to use it the other day and I was blowing my brains out middle-clicking, hitting stuff like "Shift+Enter" and "Ctrl + T".
