Ok, I will revise about the toolbar. I love the search thing. Several times I just typed in some keywords from sites I forgot the name of and it just pops up.

I know you can do this in history, but having it in toolbar is just so handy.

There is an add-on called Oldbar which displays URLs like FF2, but it still uses the new algorithm. Almost there....

Am I the only one who had issues with my tab bar size? It's like everything is getting cut off at the bottom...

meggo, consider changing the font size in your Windows' display settings. I forget what setting it is, but bring that Verdana or Tahoma font a couple sizes down, and your tabs will fit ok. I think?

Use "LittleFox", a theme that makes more space for your toolbars and tabs.

Thanks, SwoLy, but I figured it out... Of course the answer came to me after I posted!

I tried the fonts first - but the thing was, there wasn't a problem with my bookmarks toolbar - just the tabs...

So it turns out it was a style sheet I had - I changed a few settings and got it to fit. It still looks a little goofy, but I'm much happier now. :) I'll work with it a little more later.

I'm not upgrading for a while. 2.0 works just fine.

Adjust the Smart Location Bar's Number of Suggestions

The Firefox 3 feature that you'll get to know and love the most is the new smart location bar's as-you-type suggestions that learn where you probably want to go as you browse. But if you're feeling like the number of suggestions is too high or too low? Adjust it to your liking in Firefox's configuration area. Here's how.
    1. Enter about:config into the address bar and hit Enter.
    2. Press the "Ill be carefull. I promise!" button. (Becasue you will be.)
    3. Enter browser.urlbar.maxRichResults in the Filter field to reach this preference.
    4. Set it to your desired number of suggetions.

This version is MUCH smoother than Firefox 2.000.0014 or whatever the last one was.

Firefox 2.0 was a very annoying MEMORY HOGGING piece of crap. Add-on features werent worth it if after 10 minutes its eating half the CPU just browsing and tabbing Clutchfans? I know I could done steps like use another FF profile or whatever but still

I can now officially switch over from IE to Firefox full time now :)
(when all the add-ons become compatabile or I when find a workaround...)

I have downgraded and finally got all the glitches that 3.0 caused -- I'm definitely going to wait a good while before re-installing. To those saying 3 uses less memory than 2 -- i'm seeing less memory used with 2 every time i've checked.

Maybe it depends on the operating system you are using. I am finding it much smoother and I am running vista. I was having lots of meltdowns with the 2.0 version in Vista, not so many on my XP at work.

Can you supply a link how to downgrade back to 2? I can't get iTunes to work now and my animated gifs on other forums no longer work. I have a swuut Rick Roll avatard on another board with my face on it and it just stands like I'm doing the robot, but not.

I think all you do is find the previous version and it will automatically re-install over the existing version.

I just tried it, went from 3.0 to 2.11. I'll give Mozilla their credit in that they do try to make things easy

found previous version at this link:

Or, if the person you originally asked has a better idea try that, sorry for butting in...

OK, FF3 is finally growing on me. I run Windows XP SP2 on a P4 2.53GHz with 1GB RAM.

When I used FF2, it would regularly take up 150-180 megs of my memory. I have FF3 running now with more extensions than I had before, 5 tabs open (1 being my iGoogle homepage (which has several memory intensive gadgets) and am using just below 100 megs.

Oh and it IS faster. Fo sho.

    2 thumbs up.

I like the new version, but...

The bookmarks in my toolbar have lost their icons (or whatever you call it).

How do I get those back??
