How will thousands of people chanting to FIRE you have no impact??? If it doesn't, you have problems. How do you know he will "graciously resign?" I absolutely do not respect the man for the past 2 seasons of garbage coaching. But I do respect him for his championship days, when he actually coached like a true champion. What has happened to him? Yes, chanting to 'fire' him is harsh. But what must be done must be done. And I think this must be done, because he is clearly not getting the message.
There will be no ass kicking because Rudy has turned into the Gomer Pyle of the NBA. He is like Sean Penn in that movie I am Sam. Sean Elliot on the NBA Tonight said that not getting Ming the ball was unacceptable. The other guy on the show basically pleaded with Cat and Steve to get Ming the ball. Not getting Ming the ball is only one of the problems. You can't fire players but you sure as hell can fire the coach. I was watching the game tonight and when the Mavs made that run, the camera turned to Rudy and he had this look on his face that said "duh."
C'mon. No one can deny Rudy is not the right coach for this team. He lets his players do whatever out there. He has no control over any plays, except that Yao pick dish to Francis for a three to tie the game play. The offense is terrible and does not utilize a skilled 7'6 guy enough. Isos, isos, isos, and more isos. when the Rockets do win, it's still not pretty basketball. No more Rudy brought Houston two championships.....It's time for new style of basketball, something the fans can watch and be excited about even if they lose. Rockets have a winning record right now only because they do have good players. However, a team with good players can not win with a clueless coach. I hope I am wrong, but Rudy is a subpar coach right now. The media is finally seeing how bad he is.
Thousands of people chanting? You're dreamin'...the fans in attendance barely cheer. If you think you're juvenile display will get RT fired, you're the one with problems. RT ain't goin' nowhere until the season is over because the Rockets are athletic enough to beat most bad teams home or away and many good teams at home. It won't happen until after the season because Les Alexander has more class than that. Take a lesson.
hahahahahhahahahahaa. That's interesting, because I do recall us losing to...*drum rolls please*....memphis, clippers, knicks, golden state, atlanta, and fiiiiinally chicago. Many good teams at home? How about tonight, for starters?
Rudy T needs to go back to the booze cups he was a better coach as a raging alcoholic than as a sober docile aw shucks fool that he is now. That was just plain awful... I'm sick and tired of Bill Walton talking about Rudy's patience I'm sorry but when our players f**k up like that you have to get in their faces and let them know it isn't acceptable. We have the same f**king problem at the University of Texas with Mack Brown. Neither are going to cut the mustard.
I hopped onto this thread a little while ago and have watched it go from 4 to 8 pp. in that time. I was watching the game last night with my dad. He follows the team a little bit because I'm the fan, etc etc. I told him at halftime, "I hope I'm wrong, but the Rockets are about to have a meltdown." Self-fulfilling prophecy? Maybe this loss was my fault? Seriously, though, I turned off the TV about halfway through the third quarter. Hell, I could have turned it off at halftime. I absolutely knew our team was gonna get punked, but I held out hope. I wanted to be wrong. Same old mess. The opposing team gets hot from the 3 point line and Rudy won't make the adjustment against it. It's always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS the same story: oh, eventually they'll cool off. Our team absolutely collapsed in the 2nd half. They looked pathetic. I was embarassed for them, I was almost embarassed to be a Rockets fan. The only way I advocate keeping Rudy is if we manage a miraculous 3-team too-many-players how-do-you-offset-Steve's-BYC-status trade for Kevin Garnett (with whom Rudy has a good relationship and who doesn't need a brain transplant). As my dad said during the game, "It looks like the game has maybe passed by ole Rudy." (And this from my dad who has seen very few of their games over the years.) Something has to give. Rudy and/or Steve and/or Cat. It's time. This iso BS team has got to go. Will was correct. Yao is the only untouchable. I might add Posey to that list. At least he can defend and finish. Who has Van Gundy's #? Make a call.
Excuse me? I think your snare drums' head was wound to tight and developed a crack in it. The last time I looked the team had a record of 24-20 (.545) which equates to a 44-38 season (nearly 45-37 but I rounded down). Good teams beaten - Portland, Lakers with Shaq, Washington (don't give me that EC crap, it's still Jordan), Seattle (when they were playing well and had recently defeated Utah, Sacramento, SA and NJN within a month of the Rockets' game), Philly, Sacramento, Indiana, New Orleans, Minnesota, Orlando, Boston and Pheonix. They are currently in the 8th playoff spot and unless LA reels off 10 in a row, they won't replace the Rockets until March. (LA has games with 7 playoff teams from now until the end of February). Apparently, you haven't look deeply enough to observe that the Rockets are 5-5 over their last 10. Sacramento, New Jersey and Detriot are also 5-5 while Dallas and Utah are 6-4 and Pheonix is 3-7. What part of 24-20 do you fail to comprehend? Les Alexander's "yardstick" will be making the playoffs. The Rockets will be at or near #8 until the last month of the season. And he won't fire RT that late in the season. Just out of curiousity, if you lived next door to Rudy would you put a large sign in your yard right now stating to fire him?
If you don't understand the difference between "a coach" and a man who was your #1 overall pick, who worked for your franchise 30+ years, who's number is retired in your rafters and was the coach during your only championshipship seasons...I can't explain it to you...
If you don't understand the difference between "a coach" and a man who was your #1 overall pick, who worked for your franchise 30+ years, who's number is retired in your rafters and was the coach during your only championshipship seasons...I can't explain it to you... Amen. Let's lose Cat and get Payton to cure what ails us.
The problem is not Rudy T, it is our selfish guards who refuse to run the offense. They try to create too much on their own. On any given fast break, I can almost guarantee you that the guy with the ball is going to take it up. When mobley gets the ball in the halfcourt, I can almost guarantee you that he will shoot. When our guards are freaking black holes on offense, how can you expect to get anything going? I mean sure, Mobley will get his 18/game, but on what 5-20 shooting?
Actually, Rudy admitted such in "The Punch". However, I agree that his posts suck. The whole Rudy/drinking cheap shots are low class IMO. If people wanna say that he cant coach, then fine. Say it and back up your arguement with examples. No need to get personal.
Is it just me or does it seem like Rudy T has to be the worst half time motivator/adjusments maker in the NBA tody. HOW MANY time have the rockets played decent and had a lead at half time of more then five points and lost it within 2 min of the third quarter? Is it me or does it seem like the ball moves a lot better when Yao is involved in the offense? Coincidently the rockets seem to have a lead when he is playing well. It's time to trade one of the guards or fire Rudy T and see if some one can obtain some kind of control on this team. Coaches can make a big difference (Hubie Brown).
Hey 1aggie02, If this is the case then Rudy T. is the problem.... If he is telling the players to do something and they are not, then it is his responsibility to discipline them for that. So basically Rudy T. is the problem...
Here's an idea -- how about CHEERING at the games? You know, that's a lot more productive. That's usually how a 'fan' 'sends a message'. It currently doesn't happen.
TheFreak, you need to update your profile to include 'domestic terrorist'. ps, if one of the 30,000,000 people that visit this website actually get the wild hair to harass Les and actually burn his house down, chances are the police will be paying you a visit.
