Manpower problems aren't JVG's fault. He had a plan for a full team...not a group of role players. Let's get everybody back healthy and see how he does.
The team was very competetive. How many bad passes are backup players going to make. Baxter is showing why he can't stick but he's out there battling. Bowen is showing he is one dimensional but again he is battling. The coach has to get some credit for keeping these guys heads in the games. He has these marginal/role players staying alive. I am trying to see where VG is to blame but I just don't see it. Nope.............................Lock It!
The problem is...they are. Mr. Van Gundy is the head coach, and the buck stops with him. The fact that he prefers and chooses older guys makes that doubly so.
Admins don't lock because you ask them to. Admins lock when a poster fails to provide a link, posts false/unsubstantiated defaming rumors, descends into a personal flame war, or becomes obscene. Let the admins handle that job and stop trying to play thread cop. Some people should get a no-post penalty box, for clogging threads with "lock" posts. "In before the lock" is right up there with "Free Post".
Um I have a question who has a worse lineup: Some points: 1) We have all of 7-8 People, which other team has less than 12? 2) We have to play moochie norris for some minutes, which other team would have to stoop that low 3) We have a starting lineup consisting of Deke (40+ yrs), Howard (Past his prime), Bowen (um...), Wesley (Way past his prime), Rafer (solid player but more of a passer than shooter) is there really a worse off team right now? If you can think of one PLEASE tell me which team
I don't care WHAT coach you put with this group of guys, they'll probably lose every game they play. I can't see how firing the coach, midseason, is going to make us better.
His coaching has been fine, I can't imagine anyone doing a better job with what he has to work with, and that's why the only thing that can be questioned is his selection of players. Everyone here besides Yao are here because he wanted them here, he choose to get players that were high risk types, either because of age and injury or because of underachievement or a combination of those risks. Give him credit for recognizing skilled players and fitting them into this team and his scheme, the Rockets were great last season because of those players, but his risks have started to backfire. Sura's career is probably over, Barry can't get healthy, DA can't get healthy, Swift scratches his eye and is out for a week, Ryan Bowen is Ryan Bowen. I guess you can't blame him though, because those injuries would be irrelevant if both Yao and T-Mac were playing, so I guess he's done a good job everywhere and I just wasted my time thinking about this.
won't really make me feel better, sorry. These threads are expected. When a team struggles, the couch potato GMs takes out their firing sticks and .... nvm... in before the lock.
You think? What would he do different than what JVG is doing? Would he spread the court and have Ryan Bowen break down his man off the dribble?
