I saw a similar event in the evening while trawling back off lake Livingston about 27 years ago. It lasted a long time (maybe 15-20 seconds?) and moved roughly from northbound, basically parallel to the horizon in the Eastern sky. It was so surreal we could hardly believe it was happening. Same things, flaming ball of swirling colors, couple of tracers breaking off. Incredible. Wish I had seen this one in person too.
