Astros lost that series because their pitching failed them at Home. Diaz playing would not have made a difference when you give up 9 and 11 runs in Game 6 and 7.

Game six was a 3-2 game going into the 8th inning. How do you come to the conclusion that the Astros lost that series because the pitching failed them at home?
Astros couldn’t score and when you sit two of your best hitters that season that’s what Baker asked for.

Not true. In Game 6 , the Astros were only down 4-2 in the 8th inning and had the bases loaded with 1 out. Instead of using Diaz or McCormick to pinch it for Pena, Singleton went up. I believe this was when the Series could have been won.

Also, if Diaz and/or McCormick had played the entirety of the game, the Astros may have scored more than 2 runs.

Astros got shutout in game 1 in losing 2-0...hitting failed them. Lost game 2 by 1 run, 5-4. Game 6 was very winnable. Down 4-2 in the 8th inning the Astros loaded the bases with 1 out but failed to score. Had they tied or taken the lead we would have pitched Pressly in the 9th. Rangers scored 5 in the 9th to blow it open. Game 7 was a disaster.

I respected Dusty and thought he was the best choice in 2020 ( after finally realizing Espada wasn't right for that situation)

I actually was fine with Dusty's pitching moves.

What irritated the crap out of me was his insistence on sitting a guy returning from injury one extra day and his bias toward veterans and against young players.

Diaz and McCormick absolutely could have and should have been the difference and helped bring a 3rd WS title to Houston.

If we could inject Dusty's personality into Sword, we'd be rolling.
Not gonna lie, I miss Dusty's quotes more than his managing. Appreciate the time he was here.

We are just going to have to disagree on this. At some point, you pitchers have to perform.

Hey chump, do you not see how everyone disagrees with you? Can you really
just not see it? I mean, scroll up and take a look. Not one person in here agrees with you except RVO, but he only likes Dusty for the same reason he likes Cam Smith. It has nothing to do with baseball.

I don't how you are able to pay attention to the Astros when your head is obviously up the orangeman's ass.

Still holding out hope for Chas to "show something"? A washed 30 year old who had a BRIEF few months of success. If you think the Astros lost because he didn't get at-bats, then they were ALWAYS doomed to lose that series.

What kind of fan roots for Astro players to fail? You’re just a chump. Dusty wasn’t retained. Maldy wasn’t retained. Therefore your fandom wasn’t retained.

now go spend time with your obese wife

Nobody is rooting for a player to fail. There is a reason the Astros kept giving Meyers chances over Chas. They saw Chas a bit role player, not as a potential long-term starter. Not my fault you fail to see that.

It's one of my annoyances with the sub-forum. There's always someone in such a hurry to call for a new manager's firing that inevitably the longitudinal thread following the manager is usually some form of "fire Espada/Dusty/etc". It sets up everyone's expectations that the dude sucks and is gonna fail. Dusty obviously had his moments and nuances but flags fly forever and its hard to argue he didn't have one of the most successful managing tenures in Astros history.

Back to Espada, yea man what can you complain about a guy managing a team to first place when he's getting nearly nothing from 3 of his best hitters and 2/3's of his rotation is on the IL.
