<blockquote><a href="http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/2001-02-25-recount.htm">Study: Gore would not have won on recount</a>

    By Dennis Cauchon, USA TODAY

MIAMI — Former vice president Al Gore would not have picked up many new votes in Miami-Dade County — and might have lost ground in the county — if the hand count of ballots that he requested had been completed, according to an independent study done for USA TODAY, The Miami Herald and Knight Ridder Newspapers. Gore would have had a net gain of 49 votes if the most-lenient standard — counting even faintly dimpled chads — had been used, the study found. If the standard had been more stringent, George W. Bush probably would have gained votes.

Just thought this was a good ending to an otherwise unpleasant affair. Didn't someone post the exact opposite of this about a month ago? Obviously it was premature.

Maybe, maybe not. Democrats.com apparently still claims Gore has a 1,000+ vote lead after these total state recounts. I don't know why their numbers are different than everyone else's or what their breakdown is, though.

I figured that when these results came in, I'd trust them as being correct, regardless of the outcome. I dunno, I personally don't trust "Democrats.com" to be fully objective, just as I wouldn't trust "RushLimbaugh.com" either. But I do wonder how they get a different number.

dont believe everything you hear. karl rove is the one behind all this. and yes, democrats.com's is a state wide recount. also, the story i brought here last time, was not about miami dade, it was about the whole state of florida, so it was not premature. i have never done anything premature in my life [IMG]
