I thought the movie was just 'okay' and wasn't tremendously impressed by it.

It wasn't bad, but I'm glad I didn't pay money to see it in a theater.

After watching this movie I see why the Halo project fell apart.

Major barf fest. Glad I only paid a buck to watch it. Not worth even that much, imo.

I think they just correctly realized a Halo film would have sucked, so instead instead they decided to do something with some meaning with a much smaller budget instead of a dumb, expensive, superficial action movie. The only thing District 9 and a Halo movie would have in common is aliens.

I absolutely loved this film. It's good to see something completely original sometimes.

I understand that but if you think about it what would more game addicts/geeks pay more to watch: Halo or District 9?

Plus everyone else would be interested to see what it was all about, whoever doesn't play Halo.

I just thought the plot was kind of predictable and goofy. I mean after he was shot in the face by that goo you had to know that he was going to start changing into one of them.

I just didn't understand why it also fueled the spacecraft they used. *shrug*

I mean it kinda got me thinking about how we humanity fight against different races ie. eachother and if we did have something like that happen they would def become the new enemy.

Don't think we would have been as hospitable as the movie was with providing "shelter" if thats what they wanna call it, for them.

It had a good story, from what I caught or morale. You don't start seeing things from others eyes until you become them or like them. Now he knows how it feels to be a minority, so to speak.

In one wonder I'd describe it as silly. Just what I thought.

Same here. I don't get it. In fact, I thought it was kind of silly. I kept asking myself is this all there is to this movie. I'm usually pretty easy when it comes to liking alien movies...but I only thought this was 'okay'. I guess I just didn't buy into the whole storyline concerning the one main human character and his spilled milk conversion. The movie flowed okay but it felt like watching a third person shooter play out or something. In the end, it felt like nothing really happened. I wasn't satisfied. Is the sequel going to happen 3 years later?

I'm in this boat as well. It wasn't a bad movie but it definitely wasn't great either. It got better as the story progressed but I thought it was pretty silly as well. Definitely didn't come close to the hype that it has.

As an aside for those of you that like it; the movie looks great in blu ray.

I think I had read somewhere that Blomkamp was most likely going to do a prequel rather than a sequel, since he thought there were still a lot of stories to tell about the prawns that lived in the shanty town before the events of District 9 all went down.

While I could see that being true, I really hope he doesn't go that direction because the movie set up a sequel so well with the possibility of Christopher coming back in 3 years. I want to see THAT story.

I don't understand the whole prequel business at all!!!! Why not make the films as they are instead of having to go back in the past to begin with?? That is why the Star Wars Prequel sucked major monkey asses!!!! Patton Oswalt did a great bit on prequels and the whole George Lucassss magic...
