From CNN: FBI issues terror alert warning two men and about a dozen associates could strike U.S. interests as early as Tuesday. Details to come From MSNBC: Feb. 11 — The FBI issued its most specific terrorist alert yet on Monday, asking law enforcement and the American public to be on the lookout for a Yemeni man and several associates, who might be plotting a terrorist attack on U.S. interests as soon as Tuesday. http://www.msnbc.com/news/696835.asp ---------------------------- My Take: This seems really specific. As aposed to a warning against bridges or something this is a warning saying that certain people might do something. Sounds like they really know something in my opinion or it could just be another vague report that they are releasing so if something happens people cant say how did you not know anything about it.
What's sad is that if they issue all these warnings and nothing ever happens, people are going to quit believing them if (if they haven't already). Maybe things are supposed to be happening when they warn us, but the plan doesn't go through as followed. It's like the boy who cried wolf. (You're right though. I'm sure they want to cover their a$$es as much as possible).
I agree people will stop believing them after a while especially when its like the one with the California bridges. Oops are info wasnt credible sorry to scare you guys. But this one scared me because I get that CNN Breaking news email and when the message is what I said above from CNN thats scary because its so specific.
If they have knowledge about things like this and don't say anything, can you imagine what would happen if some terrorist plan was successful?
I've been thinking all week that "these guys" would do anything to strike the Olympics. yes, it's completely obvious, and that's why most people dismiss it. . . but I think the terrorists would give their left nuts to hit us in an obvious place at an obvious time so as to be able to brag about how vulnerable we are. I'm worried for the Olympics, personally.
They got the info from one of the detainees in Gitmo. It was fairly specific (Feb. 12 date, actual names, etc). There's no evidence that the suspect has ever been admitted into the US, though they could of course just sneak across the border. But they believe that a US embassy or other interest overseas will be the likely target. The Olympics is very well guarded. It will probably be the safest place to be in the US tomorrow. Never know, of course...
