It used to be Cato and Francis. Then they were shipped out and the attention was turned to Rafer Alston. But nobody got whipped as much as TMac.

Brian Cook should be an honorable mention.

I just hated rafer so much, I didnt clown him alot on these boards, but I hated every shot he took, and hated to see him even in the game....That hate for david anderson is starting to pile up....

Never really considered Maloney to be a whipping boy. My only expectations of Maloney was to bring the ball up. Give to Hakeem in the post, give it to Barkley in the post, or give it to Clyde on the wing. If he gets the ball back, and no one is checking him, shoot it up.

Now Steve on the other hand.. Let me start by saying I like Steve Francis. He brought excitement to the game. He just drove me nuts by not trying to learn how to be a good NBA point guard. I know that wasn't his strength, but atleast try working on it.

I had low to no expectations out of Stromile. I hated it when Eddie Griffin would shoot threes.

If Rafer would just learn to do a layup.

Rafer Alston was whipped pretty bad on a game by game basis. How he never really got good at a single scoring skill (teardrop/3 pointer/drawing the foul) I will never know.

For the past four seasons, Rafer Alston was the number one whipping boy on this board IMO.

On the thread I started after his preseason in the NBA Dish (Link-->http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=176102) there appeared to be a good number of replies of negativity concerning Rafer. If anyone should start a thread concerning Rafer Alston's season with the Nets on the NBA Dish, I wonder how many members on this board would want a sticky attached to it.

Rafer started the last 11 games for the Nets only because Devin Harris aggrivated a groin injury he suffered in the preseason in the Nets' second game of the season. So far, he's shooting 33.3 percent overall from the floor (34.1 3-Point FG%, 33.0 2-Point FG%). That 33.0 2-point FG% is the lowest on the entire New Jersey Nets' roster right now (Thirteen games into this season).

He is an average player who would be good had he turned it on while shooting. He's a poor shooter. But he doesn't deserve all the bashing.

But Rafer thought he was better than Chris Paul and Steve Nash, and that was troubling.

Yao and Tmac both do not get enough blame.

People are getting whipping boy and drama queen mixed up.

    whipping boy is Rafer.

People say Rafer sucks at the PG. Nobody says Tmac sucks at his position, they are just tired of his drama and underachieving ways.

I personally though Rafer wasn't all that bad for us. He was better under Adelman than he was under JVG.

I agree to some extent. Tracy is a whipping boy because he has not played one single game to prove either standpoint.
Whether it is underachieving or overachieving, expectations should not be that high after microfracture surgery.
