Check out the Benelli Nova. It has a synthetic stock with a short action and is built like a tank. And of course the Benelli name speaks for itself. That what I have at the house, no plug and buckshot locked and loaded.

This day and age I would not be without protection for my family. I'm not so much worried about myself, but I will take any means necessary to protect my family. Make all the smart azz comments you want, but I refuse to have someone come in my house intending to harm and weep like a little b****. There have been a several cases here in the 1960 and Jones area in the last couple of months where someone has been breaking into homes and tying up the families to rob them.

When you say locked and loaded, do you mean that you keep the weapon sotred but loaded at all times?

That is very unsafe, and goes against any kind of gun safety procedures I have heard. You may well be putting your family at far greater risk by doing this.

Long time since this thread, but I'm thinking about starting up the collection soon.

What would you recommend getting first? Because of budget I will have to space out the purchasing of the guns. I was thinking of getting a Uberti cattleman brass with a 5 1/2 inch barrel .357 so that it will go with the Rifle I'll get too. I found an 1892 lever action for about $482, and a 12 g coach gun for around $300. The pistol is the most expensive, but I already have a holster for it. I know that eventually I would need two of them.

I'm just curious what you would recommend starting with, so I could start practicing with it.

Speaking of .357s. Always wear earplugs. I removed my earplugs for about a second at the range because my ear was itching. My friend was shooting a .357 about 3 feet away and those suckers are LOUD! That was two weeks ago and I still feel a slight pain in my left ear. I think I might have permanently damaged it.

If you want home defense, try a Saiga-12 with a 20 round drum mag.

Thanks for the tip. I will be sure to keep that in mind. I guess the rifle can use .38 bullets also, and I might be able to load more into it if I use .38's. Though I think I'll be getting the revolvers first or at least one of them. I don't know.

If I were ever to have to use a shotgun, I'd give it to Doc.

They are less likely to get nervy if Doc is on the 'street howitzer'.

I have an old Winchester Model 1100 12 guage that has a barrel with about three different colors from the rebluing that I've done to it. I can kill some with it, though.

I quail/pheasant hunt a lot. I use a .20 Browning Citori I got from my great uncle in his will. Beautiful gun.

He also gave me a little .410 coach double trigger side by side. The thing is about half the size of the Citori. It is very sporty, but a little impractical for hunting.

Before my uncle passed I used a Remington .20 pump. Not a very flashy gun, but it did the trick.

Whenever I go dove hunting I use the same model Remington but in a .12 pump or I borrow my dad's .12 Citori.

    Bird hunting is fun.

I know next to nothing about weapons, but the shotgun in Halo was the best. One shot, close proximity, and you're out.
