I think you aged yourself by totally neglecting all the old school Rocket greats. We should never forget Rocket greats like Moses, Calvin Murphy, Rudy T, etc. Nevertheless, there will never be a greater Rocket than Dream!
Hakeem is the greatest Rocket of all time and he was my favorite Rocket as well but I was sad and angry at him in the manner he left the team. I vote for Rudy T as my favorite Rocket because of his dedication to the team as a player and a coach.
OK, my serious response to this thread... I'll tell you why Mario Elie was my all time favorite Rocket: 1) He worked his ASS off: Look at the Path that Mario Elie took. CBA, USBL, Europe, South America...he played basically anywhere there was a basketball. It takes guts to play over in some foreign country, hoping someday that you MIGHT get that break that leads to NBA stardom... 2) "Positions" meant nothing to him: Small Forward? Shooting guard? Just give him the damn ball!! He'll know what to do with it! When you needed him to score, he scored. When you needed him to play defense, he played defense. 3) He "took it" for the team: Remember that time he went up for a layup, was undercut, and broke his wrist? Remember him taking a Danny Ainge fastball from point blank range? He took all the punishment and came back for more 4) One of the coolest nicknames: Sure, "The Dream" and "The Glyde" are nice, but "Junkyard Dog" really personifies Elie. If there is one nickname that fits the player perfectly, it's Elie's. 5) He hit the single greatest shot in franchise history: If you don't know which shot I'm talking about, please take "Rockets fan" off your resume immediately, for you are not worthy!
who's sedale threatt? anyways. sorry about leaving out mario elie, he was a great rocket. but i had to leave out eddie cause he's only been here for one year. i know pip was only here for one year too. but he was a all-star at the point. and who in the world is sedale threatt???
IMHO, second greatest shot (a close second, but second nonetheless). First would be Ralph Sampson's shot that won the WCF's for the Rockets over the Lakers in '86.
I voted Drexler, but I really can't pick a favorite though, it was the whole crew back in the late 80's and early 90's that I got attached to. Where is Mario Elie on there???? Sorry Behad, A-Train is right, Elie hit the greatest shot in franchise history. In No order Drexler Cassell Sleepy Floyd Moochie Mario Elie - Junkyard Dog Dream Carl Herrera Kenny Smith Franchise Mobley Horry OT
HEY, what about Steve Harris and Derrick Chievous!??? Oooppps, ...I thought U said Vote for your LEAST favorite ROX's players!
Rudy Hakeem OT Mario Drexler Barkley Mr Mean LOVE-HATE Barkley Maaaaaaad Max Lewis Lloyd Cassell Horry Willis
Hey, at least he played a few games....I think at last count Ming had like 20-25 votes as All Time best center...which is one hell of an accomplishment, considering the obvious impedement of his having yet to play a single minute in the NBA....
