for pure artistry...I go with Jeff and Van Gogh... For full effect... Guernica by Picasso... Picasso's famous painting for the 1937 Worldsfair in Paris was called Guernica. Named after the Basque town that was pummeled for 3 hours by German bombers and fighters for no reason other than to test out how successful Hitler's new toys were. Franco OK'd the bombing. 1,000s were slaughtered as were cattle and horses, as the town was pretty much burned to the ground. black and white, 27' wide mural, this is an must see painting in person (in Madrid). Considered modern art's most powerful antiwar statement. http://www.terra.es/personal/asg00003/picasso/grguer2.html For more on the background of the painting: http://www.cix.co.uk/~phreak/picasso/secret_guernica.html and more http://www.pbs.org/treasuresoftheworld/a_nav/guernica_nav/main_guerfrm.html [This message has been edited by heypartner (edited September 04, 2000).]

I like just about everything Monet did. I also really like Van Gogh. BobFinn, That second one was truly weird.... but I did like it. The first one by Dali isn't to my tastes. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem. DREAMer's Rocket Page
I love art, and I'm straight, so there dammit. I have so many to list, but my absolute favs are: van Gogh: Starry Night-- Its been my wallpaper for years; I saw it in New York several years ago. Bosch: The Garden of Earthly Delight-- Saw it this summer in the Prado in Madrid. Pictures don't do this one justice (like they do any masterpiece justice). It must be seen in person. Munch: The Scream da Vinci: The Virgin of the Rocks; The Last Supper Botticelli: The Birth of Venus just to name a few. ------------------ I need a new signature. 302
I was in Amsterdam a few years ago. I got SO stoned and then went to the van Gogh museum. Then I got even more stoned and went to the Rembrandt museum. I was absolutely baked and very impressed. ------------------ I need a new signature. 302
View of Toledo, El Greco. No, that's not Toledo, OH, either. I used to have a link to an art site that had any painting you could want, but hell if I can find it now. And Jeeves was no help when I asked him, the b*stard.
I have always enjoyed tasteful nude portraits with simple, elegant backgrounds and an emphasis on realism. One of my favorite artists is the renowned Scandanavian, Frekke Nakkenbilder, who was/is sought after by celebrities all over the world to do their portraits. Here is some of his best work, among them a shockingly accurate portrait of Adolf Hitler: http://www.uio.no./~seide/natalie.html http://www.uio.no./~seide/calista.html http://www.uio.no./~seide/adolf.html http://www.uio.no./~seide/britney.html ------------------ My dream job is to be a Houston Rockets towel-boy.
