All this trade talk has me thinking about all the trades that did not happen. Don't know if this has been written about before, but watching Stoudamire against the **** made me realize how glad I am we did not get him. So here are the 2 trades that jump out: Damon stoudamire (for who?) Seikley, Long, etc for Hakeem ------------------ "Quote under construction"
Robert Horry for Sean Elliot. ------------------ I'm about to boldly go where many men have gone before.
glen rice and robert horry for scottie pippen ------------------ http://www.democrats.com mgh 1925-2001
if i remember correctly, it was: damon stoudamire & walt williams for kevin willis, mario elie, and matt maloney. ------------------
Walt, Cato + pick for Kobe. ------------------ "Oh No..." -Bill Walton in 97 just before Stockton's buzzer beater
Biggio, Caminiti and Cameron Drew for Dale Murphy. (Ooops, wrong sport) Elvin Hayes for Jack Marin (No wait, that one actually happened!) Hakeem for a bunch of Clippers. ------------------
I actually like this one. Gill can play some defense. j ------------------ Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb!
Cato + Walt & three future first rounders for Shareef. ------------------ "I would like to live forever, because we should not live forever, because if we were ever supposed to live forever, then we would live forever, but we cannot live forever, which is why I would not live forever." -Miss Alabama in the 1994 Miss Universe contest
DaneB, That was a horrible no trade. There is no way that we get better than 'Reef for Cato and the Gizzard. The picks could probably be paid off by next year (22,23,next years pick). I am not sure about the conditions on the picks, but since we would be in the playoffs next year, our picks would not be very good, and it would be very unlikly that they would land a player as good as 'Reef. ------------------ "Of course, thats just my opinion, I could be wrong" -- Dennis Miller
Walt for Kendall Gill. ------------------ President of the Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford,Larry Hughes, and Charles Woodson fan club.
Yup. That's my favorite. Horry was huge during the Championship run. ------------------ Chris Webber at the July 28, 2001 3:00 PM news conference when he announces where he will go: "It seemed tough, but with guidance from Steve Francis, I learned my true destiny. That destiny is to play for the Houston Rockets, to bring them back to championship glory. One big man is all they need, and I believe I can fill that void. Thanks to the loyal fans in Sacramento, but Houston, Texas is where I belong."
Here is a trade that I would have loved to have been pulled off: Draft Night 1984, Chicago offers its 1st round pic (some guy called Michael Jordan) for Ralph Sampson. I'm still pissed off with that one!! ------------------ Karma happens.... Victoria Titans to win it all!
Actually the deal was Drexler+#2 pick for Sampson. But We would not have drafted MJ, We might have drafted Sam Bowie(New set of Twin towers), of course we would still have had Clyde+Hakeem at their best for a longer period of time. ------------------ Never Underestimate the Heart of a Champion
The Rockets made it very clear that they would have drafted Jordan if they had the 2nd pick. On the day of the coin flip, one of the Rockets representatives had both an Olajuwon jersey and a Jordan jersey. ------------------
Think about that, clyde, hakeem, jordan. I'm thinking they'd of won the championship that year and would still be defending champs. Assuming Clyde and Jordan didn't retire. ------------------ Rasheed Wallace gots mad skilz. Who cares about the techs?
Oh Okay, I had never heard that. Sorry. I just figured that with Drexler at the two, we wouldn't have drafted another. ------------------ Never Underestimate the Heart of a Champion
