Never heard of The Conversation, will have to check it out. Must've been a very nice and expensive hotel. My living arrangements when I was in Tokyo wasn't so nice. Stayed in a capsule hotel to save $, and a cockroach showed up inside my capsule on the last night (which is terrible for ppl like me who are scared of them cos there's no where to hide in the capsule )
Akira Kurosawa Sergio Leone Michael Mann Christopher Nolan Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky) David Cronenburg Atom Egoyan David Lynch Clint Eastwood Every director who's done a Pixar flick. Just wow. Impressive batting average.
There are way too many...but here goes... Alfred Hitchcock Howard Hawks George Cukor Frank Capra Walt Disney Akira Kurosawa John Huston Stanley Kubrick Robert Wise Mel Brooks Amy Heckerling (for giving us Fast Times at Ridgemont High & Clueless) Sydney Pollack Terry Gilliam Paul Verhoeven Sofia Coppola Ridley Scott David Fincher (original stuff) Aditya Chopra Wachowski Brothers Coen Brothers Zhang Yimou Quentin Tarantino Gilles Mimouni Ram Gopal Varma Kevin Smith (original stuff) Peter Jackson Steven Soderbergh Kevin Reynolds Sanjay Leela Bhansali Hayao Miyazaki Julie Taymor Alfonso Cuaron Lone Scherfig JA Abrams Joss Whedon Guillermo del Toro
While he isn't my favorite director, Clint is one of my favorite directors. I should have put him on my list simply for Unforgiven, a truly great western. I love a good western.
John Ford Howard Hawkes Orson Welles Preston Sturges Billy Wilder Frank Capra David Lean Chan-wook Park Nicholas Ray Alexander Mackendrick John Huston
Charles Laughton: Night of the Hunter. One and done. But, man, what a one: That Welles guy wasn't too shabby either.
James Cameron Christopher Nolan Stanley Kubrick Steven Spielberg Robert Zemeckis(what the hell happen to him with all the stupid CGI animations?) Ridley Scott(should go back to his scifi root) Guillermo del Toro(just Pan's Labyrinth and Hellboy) David Lynch Hayao Miyazaki Zhang Yimou Ang Lee Wong Kar Wai Alfonso Cuaron(because of Children of Men) Quentin Tarantino JA Abrams
