Since I started a favorite movies, I figured doing a favorite movie directors. Unlike the movie one which has been done umpteen times, I don't really remember many threads on people's favorite directors. Here's my list (in no particular order): Frank Darabont Alfred Hitchcock Stanley Kubrick Ridley Scott Martin Scorsese Steven Spielberg Michael Mann Rob Reiner Brian DePalma Milos Forman
In no particular order: Guillermo Del Toro (My fav right now) Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu Alfonso Cuaron Cohen Bors. Paul Greengrass Alfred Hitchcock Spike Lee Quentin Tarantino Tim Burton Stanley Kubrik Francis Ford Coppola Woody Allen Wes Anderson Sir Ridley Scott Martin Scorsese Brian De Palma David Lynch Steven Spielberg David Fincher Peter Jackson Spike Jonze Michel Gondry And anyone who has a consistency for directing GOOD stories.
hmm.....off the top of my head .....From most favorite at the top. Mel Brooks Peter Jackson Tom Hanks Tim Burton
no one mentions M. Night Shyamalan? His movies are pretty good, most of them except that Unbreakable. And no one tops Quentin Tarantino.
I actually liked Unbreakable. Don't get why it gets a bad wrap. I think he's done 3 good movies. Sixth Sense-very good Unbreakable-above average Signs-very good His other two big films are garbage imo.
In no particular order... Quentin Tarantino Martin Scorsese Darren Aronofsky Sam Mendes Wes Anderson Joel & Ethan Coen Francis Ford Coppola Judd Apatow Ridley Scott Richard Linklater Zack Snyder Zach Braff Tim Burton Senor Spielbergo (Non-union, Mexican Equivalent)
Here are some of my favorites Ingmar Bergman Akira Kurosawa Billy Wilder Steven Spielberg These guys haven't necessarily contributed any movies to my top 10 list (which changes from moment to moment), but their output has a consistency that makes me interested in anything they do.
6th Sense and Signs, very good. I also like anticipating trying to find him in the movies. Gives you something else to do while enjoying the plot.
There's a lot of directors I like, but at the top of the list would be James Cameron. He may have a huge ego, he may not have done very many movies and for whatever reason became completely obsessed with the Titanic for a decade and stopped making films altogether, but the films he has made are absolute gold... The Terminator, T2, The Abyss, Aliens, True Lies, Titanic. Can't wait for Avatar and Battle Angel.
How's the guy that did "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels", "Snatch", and all those films? That man is layin down the law
Guy Ritchie. The former Mr. Madonna. Things were going well until he made that god-awful movie starring her.
Stealing from other people's lists: Joel & Ethan Coen Stanley Kubrik Woody Allen Not that I don't like other people's stuff. But, I'll see anything and everything by these guys.
