A friend of mine was dating him for about a year and asked me to see him when he was at the Laff Stop. Apparently he'd had to cancel a few previous gigs there and this was his first time playing Houston. He had some pretty scathing anti-Bush stuff which set the crowd to heckling him, which led him to completely abandon his set and just make fun of the crowd. We went out after and he said he thought it had gone pretty badly, but I thought it was hilarious. I doubt he'll be back anytime real soon though. I can't remember the name of his opening act, but he was very funny too and very cool. He also went drinking with us after. He's the guy with the bit about how he doesn't want to become a Marine because you have to fight a giant fire monster with a sword.
Carrot Top will never be anyone's favorite. However, we all know who he is.....and that sucks, for all of us.
Dude was really funny. His eyes were bulging and he had these different inflections with his voice that were hilarious.
I really don't have one, but we watch Comedy Central a lot, and I find a lot of the stand-ups hysterical...I just don't know their names.
Maybe this thread should be "Favorite comedian that everyone's heard of" Steven Wright is one of my favorite because of his intricate thought process. Hedberg is cool but blew a quarter million dollar development bonus because he couldn't act. Wolfberg was nice, but in today's comedy climate probably wouldn't be as popular. I take slight offense to people thinking that Rock is so shallow. I think he is brilliant but don't like him personally because he and Mike Tyson made a fool of me at Joel's Famous Deli in LA a few years ago Elvira Kurt of whom you've probably never heard of, is the best female comic I've seen. She a mainstream Lesbian comic who get's it out there but doesn't dwell on it. My favorite comic will be Headling at the Laff Spot (281-955-9200)on October 2-6, maybe you've heard of him, if not... www.coolcomedy.net -or- www.comedyhouseparty.com Dane Cook is very funny and is another guy that's had a bunch of opportunities to do TV deals but he acting has failed him.
That's really cool. I think he's hilarious, and his show with Bob Odenkirk, Mr. Show, was classic. I've seen his stand up special on HBO, and it cracks me up every time. I'm surprised people didn't like his Bush jokes. Usually I think politicians are fair game for comedians... even if I like them, I'll laugh.
His HBO special is hilarious. The bit about the p*rn star autographing pictures of her anus was hysterical.
Oh man, Mr. Show was the greatest show ever, damn the fact I don't have HBO anymore. Although it never got airtime anyway. Do they sell any of the shows on DVD, anyone know?
Did you see Robin Williams show on HBO? That was so funny I was crying. Here is your fact of the day - "Olestra causes anal leakage." I also like Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, Eddie Murphy, Dave Chapelle, and Bill Cosby.
Agreed! I just love his pot-smoking slacker attitude and Jimmie Walker voice. Chris Rock and Martin Lawrence will always be favorites of mine. I think it's not only the delivery but the voice and attitude of both guys that really makes them hilarious Among comedy ensembles, the Mr. Show guys and the Kids in the Hall guys (before they went on to brighter, less funny things) were tops. Some Seinfeld stuff was hilarious as well, and the Simpsons is still rollin' ... but I guess this is getting sort of off the topic.
