Favorite Coffee

I get my coffee from Gevalia through the mail......GREAT stuff, but expensive. My favorite is either Island Mountain Blend, or Kenya.

 

My favorite drip coffee to brew at home is from IKEA. I know, weird place to get coffee, right? I've always had a hard time finding stuff I liked. Gourmet coffee like Starbucks is too bitter and grocery store stuff like Folger's is too week. So, while on one of my many shopping excursions to IKEA, I decided to try their coffee just for the hell of it. That was three years ago, and it's still the only one I buy.

I have a home espresso machine too. For that I just use Starbucks Italian or French roast ground for espresso.

 

Is there a CC's coffee house in Houston? (I know, it's Community Coffee's fancy stuff.) Theirs is the best, and it's really good when made at home. They sell some of it at Albertson's (for those of us who still have Albertson's), but you get more choices of flavors if you pick it up directly from the coffee shop. Nice alternative to Starbucks.

I'm so simple, but my favorite is Folger's Breakfast Blend. No less than 3 cups a morning.

My favorite is any well made Latte - Other than Starbucks, I have trouble finding them in Houston. Unlike Perth Australia, which is the apparent coffee shop capital of the world, with one on every corner.

I hate to admit it, but I like Starbucks.

A few years ago someone gave me a pound for Xmas. Now I'm hooked and have to buy the damn expensive stuff.

For those who are frugal.
What is the cheapest coffee that tastes sort of like Starbucks Sumatra or House Blend?

I've tried Folgers Columbian dark roast and it isn't too bad if you use a lot of it per cup. But I'm back to buying Starbucks House Blend at Sam's Club for $7.50 per pound.

 

I love starbucks and drink it about every morning.
At home I'll brew just about anything as long as its really, really strong! Also, that keeps me drinking just one cup.

 

The current issue of Cook's Illustrated did a coffee tasting featuring nine different French roast coffees. French is a very dark bean roast that produces a strong (some think bitter) cup of coffee. The brands tested included Starbucks, Whole Foods Allegro, Millstone, Chock Full o' Nuts, and Folgers.

Believe it or not, the coffee that scored the best was Chock Full o' Nuts Cafe Blend French Roast Coffee. Tasters described it as "complex, fruity and interesting." At 3.99 a pound it may be worth a shot.

 

I tried a can of CFON from Central Market, but it looked dryer than chalk compared to Starbucks or Peets (the BEST coffee on the planet). It wasn't their French Roast, and it was unimpressive.

Mrs. JB, if you find Starbucks too bitter, try a half-pound of their Narino Supreme, and ask them to set the grind a little coarser than the normally would. Sweeeeet.

Peets is where all the Starbucks mgmt and master roaster came from. Its been in Berkeley for decades. If you ever see one of their shops, try a simple cappuccino; their's are even better than the ones we had in Italy (although I'd rather be drinking an Italian one in Venice than a Peets in Bekeley).

 

I don't really like coffee, but I'll drink the occasional frappachino.

Coffee tastes nasty.

 

I hate coffee, but understand why people like it.
And what's with all these Starbucks popping up all over Melbourne recently??!! In the last few months two have suddenly sprung up on the same block!!?? We never had them before, so why would we need them now?

BTW, is anything at the Starbucks in the USA worth buying? It seems so expensive here.

 

I can't stand Starbucks and their burned beans.

Aurora as the best simple coffee I have ever had - regular, espresso, cappuccino.

Caribou Coffee is also pretty good, and have the "frilly" drinks as well - I sometimes get a white mocha.

Seattle's Best is also pretty good.

All three have soy milk as well, so that is always a plus.

The only like 3 kinds: espresso, cappuccino, and white mocha - I only like espresso based...I am not a fan of the other stuff.
