Being in denial is one of the most fascinating defensive mechanisms to me. I have no vendettas against anyone, I'm just an impartial observer who is comparing situations from Europe, Asia-Pacific, the States and Australia. Although people on the coasts (NY and Cali) have a slightly different mentality than Texans regarding food.
The only thing that keeps me from getting it on with a fat chick is the smell. I always think they are going to stink really bad. I know thats a mean thing to say but thats what I think.
I don't understand the problem with criticizing someone who is overweight? I don't mean like trash the person because they're fat, but why shouldn't people strive to be in shape? It just seems like a poor choice to not work hard for a long period of time at losing weight. Other things take lots of hard work and time too, I don't see how losing weight is any different. I understand the people who have health disabilities and whatnot, but I'm just referring to those who actually have a choice in the matter. And yeah, I do think that for "some" people being overweight is something they can avoid with some self control and discipline.... Back to the OP, yeah it does make me go "hmm, what if.." But nothing more than that.
Ahh, the proverbial "fat chicks are ugly" thread turns into a cliché "Europeans are better than Americans" thread. Maybe they are less obese because of the number of chain smokers there. Much healthier.
All the time. Then I say to myself chances are they'll be like that for a while and it's too hard to change someone and make them lose weight. I've tried, lol. Now if it truly is a few extra pounds and you aren't a brontosaurus, absolutely. Let's bone.
Every weight thread devolves into the same points. We've rehashed all these topics time and time again.
It's just easier to wallow in self pity and complacency for those who have the choice. Why be alienated for self-discipline and doing something out of the norm when you can just as easily get your jollies from identifying with others? And once again a topic that touches close to home turns into Americans priding themselves on their ignorance (and yes, I am an American citizen).
Of course you completely ignore the fact that because Americans came from damned near everywhere at some point and there has been so much cross-breeding that there are all kinds of medical maladies that occur more often here. Thyroid problems are just one. For some reason, it does not shock me that this tidbit escaped you.
Overuse of hormones and antibiotics in food as well as a ridiculously expensive health system that prides itself on prescription medication over root cause has nothing to do with this? Cross breeding historically has produced a stronger gene pool, ask animal breeders or those who deal with strains of mar1juana.
If a fat chick lost weight, she'd have loose facial skin. It's a double-edged sword there for pretty fat chicks.
Get over yourself people.. people are mean, especially young ones, and more so unanimous ones on a Houston Rockets forum. But you're not a victim here, as someone has already mentioned, non illness-related obesity is 100% choice.. yes, some people are more blessed than other, some people eat 10 bigmacs a day and don't gain a pound, other less fortunate ones with HEREDITARY disadvantage can eat a very small amount of food and gain insane weight.. this, however, doesn't justify the morbidly obese people out there.. I'm not blessed with Arnold-like muscle genes.. my pecs don't swell up worth crap, and no matter how much I hit calf raises, I can never get awesome ones.. this doesn't stop me from working out and better yet, being more physically fit than a lot of people who are 10 times more genetically blessed than I am.. you have a choice: either sit on your butt, cheetos in hand, watching Keeping up with the Kardashians and feeling all bad for yourself for having $h!tty luck with the slow metabolism gene, or you could get up and work your a$$ off to stay in shape and avoid all the jerks out there that want to make fun of you.. blaming the jerks doesn't work, taking personal responsibility and ADMITTING that it's YOUR fault, not your genes' fault that you're 300 pounds DOES work, it's a slow horribly agonizing process, but chances are, if you allowed yourself to get to that bad a level of unhealthiness, you're not gonna man up and start fixing it because you have a horrible work ethic.. bunch of drama queens we have in here..
