It's disgusting, Texas' health standards are so low compared to places like New York, it makes me not even want to eat fast-food anywhere here. We definitely need a change of standards, I'll eat pizza hut and so fourth but screw going to places like Long John Silvers, McDonald's and all the others. Subway is cool but Waffle House isn't.. and they make the food in front of you too.

Point is, these places need to be required to wear gloves at the least.. people making my food right after they got done doing the dishes is pretty disgusting.. especially since they are only required to wash their hands for 15 seconds which we know they don't because 'Faster you get on the line, faster food is made~ faster you get the food out on time = better time results which graded by~ If that means going straight from dishes to food line to get that order out under 60 seconds then so be it and its very disgusting since gloves aren't required whatsoever.

I say we need a change in law here.

    Edit from post below..below

Sorry, let me make myself clearer since I got a different view form you all. I work at Taco Bell to help pay my way through college.. So my view on our health standards r different from yours. It disgusts me, and alot of fast food places here have rats, to think differently is moronic. Through my time at Taco Bell I've helped out at other tb's in the area, 3-4 and all r the same. I've had talks to my co-workers who have come from mcdonalds, burger king and kfc and they said its the same.

one came from Panda Express and said they are actually clean which I believe.. But its gross guys, no-one will spit in your food or your drinks if your mean.. we don't do that but I've personally seen on a daily basis people sneezing into the food or scratching their butts then making food or wiping sweat off their foreheads before making an order and sneezing into their hands then wiping it onto their shirts then making food. It's nasty as hell. I've even seen people come back from the restroom and go straight to the line, gloves aren't required either.

I wear gloves and try to make food that I'd expect as the customer but I've noticed I'm the only one. I've worked there for two years and I wouldn't go near the stuff. My 2cents

Just go eat some Popeye's and don't think about it. You really enjoy yourself, and odds are, you won't get sick.

how about don't eat fast food because it tastes bad and is terrible for you.

not just the fact that it is prepared by someone who probably just had their finger up their butthole.

Yeah, but in NYC, you have to worry about wackos spraying lunch buffets with spray bottles containing feces and urine. Um, I'll take Texas, thank you.

Besides, have you even been to a McDonald's in NYC? Or heck, ANY low-to-middling chain restaurant in NYC for that matter? Cleanliness is certainly NOT next to godliness there. The inmates truly run the asylum.

Why do people work fast food? With the exception of maybe a small percentage, I'm pretty sure everyone could get a better job. What's the deal?

I needed a job immediately and didn't have time to wait a week or two, you can get a job in fast food easily since no-one wants to do it and so I did... The reason I'm still there is because I've been there long enough and know the managers well enough to kind of dictate my hour and schedule without a hassle. The moment that goes is the moment I go and proceed to get a better job, until then I'll probably just wait till after college to get a real job. The environment disgusts me, the majority of the customers disgust me, and the way my co-workers go about there jobs disgust me lol but oh well, I'll tuff it out.

Nothing in this response has anything to do with Texas specifically, or Texas vis-a-vis NYC.

Is this thread to talk about fast food cleanliness in general, or to bash Texas as some kind of abnomoly in not having clean fast food erstaurants when all the others states do (which certainly isn't true)?

Keep in mind, fast food isn't the only type of restaurants where you'd see this type of stuff.

i second that notion. when I rarely eat fast food it's always whataburger cause they make it fresh.
also McDonalds is a sorry ass place if i've ever seen one. There's one thats under reconstruction where I live and I swear every time I drive past it which is at least 5 times a day I always see a minivan driving into it, then backing out and leaving once they realize its closed.
Morale of the story: F*ck people that drive Vans and F*ck McDonalds.

i was a driver for pizza hut recently and they're standards aren't so hot. I've seen my manager drop wings on the floor and use them anyways by adding a little more sauce to cover it.
