Mo Taylor in Seattle? It makes no sense at all. They have two solid power forwards in Horace Grant and alleged revitalized Vin Baker and two small forwards including Patterson and emerging Rashard Lewis. Now I've heard Taylor speak and he doesn't sound too sharp, so I feel Falk is behind most of this deceptiveness. I feel that Falk is using Seattle to get Houston to do a sign and trade using the trade exception for Taylor instead of using the player exception. And because the Clips do not wish to have any more contracts, because they are under the cap it could even be for a draft pick. Houston, I imagine would rather sign him and then re-sign him if we can't get Webber next year. Seattle comes into the picture because 1) They signed Rashard who we wanted badly and it was between the two teams. No one wants to lose the deal twice with the same team. 2) They are most likely a team that we would overtake to reach the playoffs soon. We would not want them to get stronger. I feel Falk and his sketchy, devlish ways is using Seattle to push Houston into paying Taylor more than we wish to and maybe even locking him up for a longer period of time, thereby lowering our position to attain Webber. Seattle is the perfect ploy because of our history and cross-roads with them in the next few years. What do you guys think? Any validity? ------------------
I think you hit the nail on the head with that evaluation. I do not think it is a given that MO will sign with us but we seem to be the logical choice. We can trade for Mo without adding a whole lot of salary to the Clippers. I think the only holdup is the amount and length of the contract for Taylor. ------------------ Houston Rockets Forever!! Great call. It seems more than just coincidence that Falk/Taylor chose Seattle and Houston -- two supposed periphery PO teams. I find it understandable, yet unfortunate, that most commentators cede the spot to the Sonics b/c of GP's experience. Chemistry will do alot more than individual talent (at least on made for tv movies ). ------------------ I've posted so much that what I say must be true.
What I don't understand is why he would choose Seattle as the team to scare the Rockets into giving Taylor more money, why not a team that needs a power forward like Milwaukee, the Lakers or Atlanta, teams that really need Taylor unlike Seattle. It makes no sense at all for him to go to Seattle so why would Faulk use Seattle of all places to scare the rockets to spend more money on Mo? ------------------ You ain't gotta like me, you just mad cause I tell it how it is, and you tell it how it might be.
You knew Faulk was up to somethng after all the stalling. Great insight. I thought I was the only one with rampant paranoia anytime an agent opens his mouth. I moonlight as an agent. Faulk can spin with the best of them. ------------------ "Chucky who? I thought we were talking about basketball?" Charles Barkley
I'm pretty certain that out of Mo's own mouth came the fact that he was considering signing with the LA Lakers.... now there's no reason for him to do that (especially not if he wants the big payday) - but could that be seen as scare tactics? At least it's more believable than him signing with Seattle, and it's proven that it gets results - didn't Kendall Gill get his contract from NJN after he threatened to sign with the lakers for the 2.25? ------------------
Dude, look at the post again. Its starts off asking the same questions you did, and goes on to provide a possible answer. The reason Faulk chose Seattle over Atlanta, L.A., and Milwaukee is that we feel we are more in competiton with them. I mean, look at the three teams you named: L.A.:they're the champions. Right now I don't beleive we're gunning to win the Finals, just getting in the playoffs. Atlanta: Thay're in another conference and don't really threaten our position for the playoffs. Milwaukee: See "Atlanta" above. Faulk's game is somewhat about us trying not to lose Taylor. But it's also about us trying to keep Seattle from getting him and thus further threatening our playoff hopes. ------------------ Ugh, Another Rockets off-season....I'm gonna need a keg of Pepto-Bismol.
Did anyone read today's NBAtalk article from the Seattle newspaper??? The REAL reason that Mo Taylor is debating between Houston and Seattle is because BOTH teams will be significantly under the cap next season. Seattle will be in a similar situation to Houston next summer with Horace Grant's huge contract expiring and if they also trade multiple players for Anthony Mason (a distinct possibility). You guys are reading way too much into his decision. Plain and simple: these are the teams with the money NEXT year. ------------------
