    From Blinebury:

From no handshake after the final game to no personal campaign to keep Olajuwon inclusive with plans for the future, Hakeem interpreted it all as a readiness by the Rockets to move on to a new era with a new cast of characters. Which is their right. But they would never come out and say that, paying what he thought was lip service to keeping him.

While Olajuwon fielded a constant barrage of recruiting telephone calls from Carter in Toronto, the Rockets never managed to get one of his young teammates -- Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley -- to reach out to him in Houston.

The Rockets, quite simply, did too little too late, and Olajuwon never felt that their heart was in it.

There's a simple explanation for all this. Their heart wasn't in it. All the alleged inexplicability of their behavior dissolves when you look at it this way. I don't doubt that Rudy is crushed that Hakeem is leaving. But I also don't doubt that if Rudy had truly wanted to keep Hakeem for $16M, he would have done so.

    right on, Will

when is the last time in 5 years that Hakeem's "heart was in it," as much as Rudy's?

Personally, I don't see what all the fuss is about.

Olajuwon has been over the hill since 1997. He should of retired but didn't. In my opinion, he left because in his mind he thinks he can be 50 percent of what he was and that is positively not true. So, we got a youth movement going here and had to let him go.

But, what you have to notice is this. EVERY agent gets the most money for his client. If the Bulls offered 10 million per year for the next 3, we would see Dream in Chicago.

The minute his agents name started being prominent in everything I read on this board, I knew Hakeem was probably gone.

Good Luck Dream. Thanks for the memories. Enjoy your last run, your money and the cold weather. If we meet in the Finals one day, I hope Mobley throws an alley-oop to Francis and he dunks it right in your mug! [IMG]

    Dream is now the ENEMY!

    Wow.

Blinebury's an idiot! I guess vince is going to make sure that Dream gets more touches. Speaking of appreciation, Toronto will never appreciate Dream like Houston does.

I have seen much of the rest of the web. It is brutal and cruel and dark. CC.net is the light.
