The field stands empty right now, the stands are vacant, but up in a plush office overlooking Yankee stadium a storm is brewing. Right now, working on three hours sleep, the General Manager of the Yankees is burning up the phone lines talking to other similarly sleepless General Managers. The names being thrown about would shock most loyal Yankee fans, Mussina, Park, Williams. There are some ill omens of change on the horizon. To the people in the office with him, the General Manager seems to be fueled by coffee and breakfast tacos, but to those who know him, the fuel for his work lies in two numbers. "124" and "53". The first is the Yankees massive payroll, the second is this disapointing teams win total. "I know who I work for", says the GM, "You're expected to win every year, if you don't you're toast." With this in mind, the General Manager is looking to move some of his stars for young talent to a team looking to contend this year.
