This post is one advocating significant changes this offseason. Francis Year 99-00 Pts - 18.0 Ast - 6.6 Reb - 5.3 Stl - 1.5 00-01 Pts - 19.9 Ast - 6.5 Reb - 6.9 Stl - 1.8 01-02 Pts - 21.6 Ast - 6.4 Reb - 7.0 Stl - 1.2 02-03 Pts - 21.1 Ast - 6.1 Reb - 6.2 Stl - 1.7 Mobley Year 99-00 Pts - 15.8 Ast - 2.6 Reb - 3.5 Stl - 1.1 00-01 Pts - 19.5 Ast - 2.5 Reb - 5.1 Stl - 1.1 01-02 Pts - 21.7 Ast - 2.5 Reb - 4.1 Stl - 1.5 02-03 Pts - 17.5 Ast - 2.8 Reb - 4.1 Stl - 1.3 Griffin Year 01-02 Pts - 8.8 Ast - 0.7 Reb - 5.7 Blk - 1.8 02-03 Pts - 8.7 Ast - 1.1 Reb - 6.0 Blk - 1.4 The list goes on, Posey, MoT, Mooch, etc. Francis and Mobley have appeared to level off in their development (along with the aformentioned other "young guys"), and Griff has yet to show ANY improvement in his game. Does this YOUNG nucleus really have a legitimate chance to improve? How long should we give them? The only player on the entire roster that I would bet on improving numbers over this year would be Yao. Let's say Yao comes back stronger, and over the next 2-3 yrs develops into a 20-12 type player....Does that all of the sudden turn us into a legitimate title contender? We didn't even make the playoffs this year, and we think with one guy scoring an extra 3 buckets a game and grabbing a few extra rebounds gets us in the same vacinity of the Spurs? I think that is VERY wishful thinking. If I were Rockets mgmt, I would be pulling for another Minnesota first round exit, and be willing to trade basically everyone on our roster (save for Yao) for Garnett, and fill in the pieces later.
It looks like from a pg perspective, the wrong numbers are going down, asst. This team really needs a shakeup, but when its done, do it right. I don't want a 31 yr old injury prone Brian Grant making max money on my team. If you combinate Griffin,Taylor,Mobley or whoever you see being moved, make sure that player is legit and still will get better. There is enough good players and dumb gms out there to give up on some players. This team along with the coaching staff is going the worng way.
