    Pg- Toney Douglas
    Sg- Kelena Azubuike
    Sf- Wilson Chandler/Danillo Gallinari
    Pf- Amare Stoudemire/Anthony Randolph
    C- Ronny Turiaf/Eddy Curry

Are we going to be getting a lottery pick or are they going to be good enough with this roster to make the playoffs?

I'd say a late lotto pick, 8-14 IMO.

Agreed. They have no bench and they have no real All Stars in the starting line up. One borderline All Star now that there is no Nash.

Oh and I thought he and D'Antoni had beef, what was up with that? Got put on ignore?

I see no playmakers on that roster. All a bunch of shooters and decent role players. Well, then again, they are in the East.

i think they are a 35-40 win team. if they can squeak out 42 wins, that may be enuf to make the playoffs in the east.....i say they end up with the 10-12th pick

They aren't going to be very good. The bottom of the Eastern Conference playoff race is generally so mediocre that I think they have at least a puncher's chance of challenging for the 8 seed.

Their one All-Star, Amare, is going to find life without Steve Nash exponentially more difficult than life with Nash. They're going to have an unproven player in Toney Douglas running the point in an offense that is predicated on the point guard making quick decisions and precision passes. Wilson Chandler is a nice player as is Gallinari, but it's bad situation for New York that they are going to have to steal minutes from each other. The center position is a joke.

I could see New York just saying: "Screw it, we're going to try to turn this into a track meet" and going small with a lineup of Randolph, Stoudemire, Gallinari, Chandler, and Douglas.

my expectations is that they will suck!!

although amare was good before nash got to phoenix, they can compete for a late playoff spot, but if amare goes down, we are gonna be getting a sweet sweet pick!

that roster isn't going to get them anywhere. teams will basically be able to focus down on amare because there are no real threats outside of him.

Better than where they were last year. Imo, the GS trade helped a lot. To me Amare for Lee swap was about a push. I don't think Amare will help them all that much more, but the 3 new additions should help.

my guess is 33 wins as is, maybe 35-40 with a PG (they still have $6M to spend). i see them as a 500 team AT BEST. the problem is it might actually be good enough for the playoffs.

my east power rankings look like this:

    magic
    heat
    bulls
    celtics
    hawks
    bucks
    bobcats
    knicks

who else in the east is better than the knicks as of today? and if the knicks land felton they pass the bobcats for the 7th spot.

ill would rather go to war with...

    Devin Harris
    Courtney Lee
    Terrance Williams
    Yi Jianlian
    Brook Lopez

and they went 12-70 so its fair to say my expectations are not high...

I honestly think if New Jersey makes a few decent moves they should be better. I know they were awful last year, but Brooks, Favors and Harris is a nice core. And with Avery Johnson at the helm? Yeah. I think they're going to be drastically improved. And the Knicks? I expect them to be considerably worse. I'm just not sure that anybody on their roster outside of Amar'e should even be a starter in the NBA. Plus, I wouldn't count on Amar'e being healthy for the whole season. If he misses any time at all - they will plummet.

I'm not surprised that the rumors have already begun that Walsh will be "retiring". And I won't be surprised if D'Antoni is fired before the season is over.

    Yi got traded to Washington.

edit: Oh. I got it. You're saying they'll be worse than last season's New Jersey squad. Agreed!

I do think the trade with the Warriors will help. In acquiring Azubuike and Randolph, you get two guys who have played in an uptempo offense. It lowers the learning curve and they should be able to plug right in. Will they make up for David Lee's production? No, but at least they got two pieces that work.
