What do you guys believe? What are your thoughts on this? I'm reading this astonishing book about this subject. It quotes alot from Darwin, and other leading evolutionist in the world who admit that there has never been not one scientific piece of evidence which proves, or even hints towards evolution. I'm just interested in hearing thoughts from around Texas, and the rest of the world.
I don't discount the possiblity that the two are not exclusive. If believing in evolution means I don't believe in God...then I don't believe in evolution.
That's crazy; I can't believe that silly fundamentalists (not you personally) always try to break it down into that kind of a stark, mutually exclusive decision, one or the other. Why on earth would you have to do that? It's like saying "well, I would believe that molecules are composed of atoms, but it would mean renouncing God, Mom, Dad & Apple Pie and the American flag, so I'll just pretend like they aren't." There is no reason at all why you couldn't believe in both. It bums me out how Creationists try to make evolutionary theory out to be a godless, atheistic monster that is out to destroy the american way. It's really sickening.
Sam -- I agree...that's my point. I see the role of a Creator in the creation. I don't know specifically how He did it...frankly, I'm not sure I care that much, except that it's a passing interest.
LOL. I'd say that book is worthless and not waste my time in reading it. To say there is no scientific evidence that proves evolution exists, is like saying there is no proof that bacteria causes disease.
No, I know you agree, I just don't like that this kind of thinking is such a dominant feature of the debate when there is no way it should be.
I think you all might enjoy this read. http://mb-soft.com/public/duality.html#hope btw, I believe in both.
Didn't enjoy the read. I should've stopped after I read this: "Therefore, it seems reasonable that a scientist, who understands and accepts the sophisticated duality of light and matter/energy, should be willing to consider a Duality understanding of Creation / Evolution." It goes on to explain that God created radioactivity and fossils(that were never animals ) just to appease men and their curiosity about science. God forbid(NPI) he actually creates everything in 7 days and makes sure everyone knows that's the real way it happened... I guess that would be too easy...
The idea that the two are in some sort of necessary competition is so silly as to be offensive (as is the idea that there is no evidence for the theory of evolution). But I do have some positive feedback. The thread starter has chosen an excellent and appropriate moniker.
It's called "Creation: Remarkable Evidence of God's Design" and was written by Grant R. Jeffrey. He did a great job. He has broken down everything evolutionist have questioned. Fossil's that have been found under heavy scientific discovery, and literally proves with all his quotes from great instructors and scientist around the world the reason why they still believe in Evolution... which is because the only other alternative is that there was a Intellgient Designer (namely God). They have calculated up the odds of Evolution happening, if the earth's oceans mixed in with the heavy gases of the atmostphere in the universe and the Big Bang happened, and the chances of life appearing out of nothing, and evolving into all the different species we know today. That's where the fossil comes in. There has NEVER been any fossil found that would show the transformation-process from one species to the next. The closest thing ever found was the Archaeopteryx', which looked to be a bird mixed with a raptor (picture below), because it had feathers. But closer looks inside of this discovery proves that it is nothing but a BIRD.
Everyone's a sucker for an interesting narrative, don't matter whether it's the scientific or the religious kind - someone's gonna like it. But me - I don't believe in nuthin'. Except Rock N' Roll.
Evolution is change. We change every moment. The same goes for our earth, sun, galaxy, etc. Also, there is no difference between the past and the future in the 4-dimensional space-time-world. The present is only an illusion. The universe has no beginning or end, and we are, ultimately, the universe.
