    I've already gotten a copy -- it's good. It's different, but it's good.

It doesn't have the jams that are so excellent on other tracks, but I'm sure they'll be good in concert.

Are you in the Warehouse Vengeance? I put in my request for tickets to the second Houston show and for the San Francisco show. I can't freakin' wait.

They're also on Dave Letterman tonight and Charlie Rose tonight as well.

Yeah, I saw them. They played "I Did It" and "The Space Between", two songs I've already heard, but they were great as always.

Got my copy. Love it. "The Space Between" is probably my favorite song.

I got to admit, the more I listen to DMB, the more I like them. My wife has always been a big fan, so I get to listen to them alot. "I did it" is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

I'll let y'all in on a little secret: Whenever I want to get my wife "in the mood", I put the "Crash" cd in. Works every time!

You have all been cited by the cheesey music police. Carry on, and quit referring to bandnames w/ abbreviations.

I'm not in Warehouse, but when I get money, we'll see about that.

I'm on the nancies m/l though [IMG]

Again, if anyone does any tape trading, I'm working on building up some collections.

About Everyday -- there are two songs on the CD that sound a bit like some of the other DMB songs. Which are they? [IMG]

is going to take some getting used to. I don't like the length of the songs, and I don't like not having the lyrics in the liner notes. Normally I'm more of a music guy (the tune is more attractive to me than the lyrics), but not so much with DMB.

as almost officially grown on me. It helps now that I've printed the lyrics off the website.

Well, since people now have the CD, here are my thoughts:

The songs are different, but that's not a bad thing. As stated before, they are much shorter. They have a unique efficiency about them that is unlike DMB. At first, I was disturbed that there were no real cool jams or instrumentals in this CD. Just recently, I relized that this is not a bad thing. The reason why is because studio jams are usually not particularly great, especially when compared to the live songs (BTCS is an exception). As a whole, there were no REALLY great jams on UTTAD or Crash, and Listener Supported, LARR, and any live song beats the studio version hands down. Therefore, the key will be to see how they are in concert, and how the band does on stage.

At first, I was overwhelmed, then a bit disappointed with this CD, but I've come to some conclusion. It's good, there's little doubt about this. It's more refined, but not in a bad way. This is a more generally fan-accepted CD than previous efforts. It will be more widely accepted by non fans as well. The good songs on here are REALLY good, but I do think there are some (dare I say it) subpar efforts.

I have to go eat dinner now, but later more.

Well, now that I'm back, I'll finish up my thoughts on "Everyday".

Like I said, I find a few of the songs to be a bit inferior. The good songs on the CD are excellent, but the lesser songs are not that great. Not to say that there are any duds (there are no DMB duds [IMG]), but there are a few songs that I don't think are very good.

    So Right -- Excellent, A+
I did it -- I think this is the best single/radio song that DMB has ever done. A+
When the World Ends -- It's good, but not GREAT -- B
The Space Between -- I think this will probably become an instant classic and a fan favorite. -- A +
Sleep to Dream Her -- This is an okay song, but I don't REALLY love it. It's good, but not "Lover Lay Down" or "Crush" good. This is the first of the subpar songs, IMO -- C+
What you Are -- A song with distinct ties to "Minarets" and "Last Stop". It also has a "One Sweet World" part thrown in. I really liked this one, but it took a while. Wasn't a huge fan at first, but now I really like it. -- A -
Angel -- I don't really like this song all that much. It's not bad, but I'm not all that impressed by it. The song starts off okay, but it just doesn't really hold me. -- C
Dreams of our Fathers -- This is my favorite song on the CD, and I think it will become an instant classic, as it offers an awesome opportunity to really jam for a while. Can't wait to see this one live. -- A+
Everyday -- Is that Big Voice Jack? I haven't been able to find out from anyone yet. When I heard this song first, I was like "WTF, this sounds very familiar" -- it's #36. The tune is changed more as the song goes on, and the lyrics are not the same, but it has a very strong resemblance. -- A
Mother Father -- This song has one of the best lines I've ever heard in a social commentary song -- "Mother, Father please explain to me; How a man who rocks his child to sleep pulls the trigger on his brother's heart" -- I really liked the commentary in this song, and Santana was cool. It took a bit of playing before I got used to it, but I like it. -- A
If I had it All -- Very cool lyrics and a really good tune. I loved this song from the beginning. -- A+
Fool to Think -- Another cool song that I liked from the start. "I'll dance a thousand steps for you" -- I think this one will be good in concert as well. -- A+

Overall Album: I don't think this is as good as BTCS or UTTAD. It seems to have a broader appeal, and the songs are VERY efficient. In some ways, it is very un-Dave Matthews Band-like, but it is very refined. Personally, this CD reminds me of UTTAD because it has many songs that will probably become concert favorites. It doesn't seem to have that unifying thread like BTCS did, but it manages to string together many good songs in an overall good CD. I'd give it an A-

If you've read this far, you no doubt think I'm a freak because I can sit here and say this much, but I've been listening to this for about 2 weeks now, and I've been doing lots of comparing songs. I'd love to hear the Lillywhite studio stuff, which I imagine is more like BTCS. I made a Lillywhite preview album of live content, and it was REALLY, REALLY good, but I can see why the band scrapped that and went with Glen Ballard.

Well, that's it. What did you all think of the songs and the CD?
