In the sprit of Drewdog’s pain in the neck thread, Just wondering if any of you have ever experienced this. For about six months now I have had this dull ache under my left shoulder blade, close to the middle of my back. I don’t notice it all the time, but it is always there. The pain becomes more intense when I lower my head and stretch my neck. ( kind of like a torn muscle ????? ) I thought it would help to get back to the gym and exercise, but no good. I'm really not forward of going to the doctor because my insurance sucks and I know what will happen. The doctors will give numerous referrals and I will be prescribed pain pills, spend $ 500.00 and nobody will know what the hell problem is. Any thoughts.
Man.....I stretch all the time, it's not helping. Maybe a professional oriental massage would do the trick. The problem is, I will need to convince my wife that I need a very limber asian chick to do a number on me.
Good Luck on the oriental massage!!! If that doesn't work, try this. Sit upright on a firm chair. Put your right ankle on your left knee. Put your left hand on your right knee. Try to point your left shoulder at your right knee and bend at the waste to lean forward. Do you feel the stretch or did I miss the muscle? Also, try rubbing the muscle using any door jamb in the house. stretch afterwards. It'll hurt for a bit, but after stretches, it tends to feel better.
That's the muscle....funny you mention the door jamb thing, I do it all the time, people look at me like I'm nuts. But is it possible for an ache to last this long ?
Yep I've had that same ache for a few years. My guess is you sit in front of a computer all day like a raptor (Hunched over head down, hands up at keyboard, elbows in) Drugs don't help they just cover up the pain. Massage actually does help, but you have to get someone who knows what they are doing. Best technique is when you lay on your side and they put your hand behind your back (chicken wing ya) and then grab your shoulder blade and pull it away from the back and massage the area that is "revealed". It's gonna hurt like hell, but it does help. BTW, even though I can't make myself follow this advise, drink lots of water after a massage so the "toxins" get washed out. After a massage I am usually fully functional again for about a month and then the pain slowly creeps back.
Sometimes whenever I bend over/stretch I get this burning sensation in the spot that you mentioned? Is that what you were talking about?
On a related note, has anybody here ever had this thing where your balls really hurt and they kinda turn a blue color? What do I do?
