It's funny, thinking about the NBA Lottery Draft, and how we'll all be glued to it. That year when we moved up from 5th to 1st was beyond awesome. Strange to think if we'd stood pat and wound up with Amar'e Stoudemire, but not a bad consolation prize. THIS year? To move up from 12-14 to the Top 3 almost never happens, but it's a good daydream. If we landed a Top 5, who would we pick?
I also like Turner far, far more than Wall. That he should come in as a SG (Roy type) rather than a fake PG helps a lot. It's only my opinion, but I've been less optimistic about Wall's career each time I see him. He screams selfish combo guard to me, and that usually translates to a losing team (Ben Gordon, Jamal Crawford, etc).
John Wall has been unselfish to the point of being frustrating at times. He's not a selfish Guard at all.
Let me temper that, selfish was probably unduly harsh. I haven't watch him excel as a facilitator of others, and don't think he would run an NBA team well. I don't think he finds teammates the way upper echelon passers do. I think he has to score (and rebound and defend) to contribute, and I don't think he's that elite a shooter or explosive enough to be an All Star at the next level.
I can agree to that to a degree. I look forward to watching Turner play in the tournament. I have yet to see him play but I saw his averages and he looks to be pretty complete. How is Turner's defense?
John Wall has hall of fame potential. You don't say that about a lot of point guards. Evan Turner will be a really special player, NO.2.
Turner is FN sick. I would love to see the guy in a rockets uni. He has the size to play SF and he rebounds good enough too. I think he looks quicker than Roy I also. Could be a point foward for the future Rockets. I like him better than John Wall.
I think this is just hating. I'm not saying you are a hater, or purposefully doing it, but for some reason you "don't like" Wall and are not viewing him objectively. The kid is averaging over 6 assists per game. He's had a 16, 14 and 11 assist game. Don't think that's impressive? This isn't the NBA. College players don't rack up assists. Yet Wall is still 5th in the NATION in assists per game. For comparison purposes, Chris Paul and Deron Williams posted more or less the same type of assist numbers. Objectively, is his game more Derrick Rose than Deron Williams? I'd say yes right now. More pure athleticism, scorer that can find open teammates but isn't exactly John Stockton...BUT, who knows. For comparative purposes, Rose only averaged 4.7 apg in college (slightly fewer minutes), playing for the same coach of course. I think Evan Turner has been phenomenal as well. And I think Wall probably does have a little of that annoying better than thou air about him. And he needs to work on lowering his turnovers. But the kid is about a prototypical a PG prospect as you can find.
Turner is so DAM gifted, today's performance was truly great. The 10 Turnovers does raise an eyebrow but overall dynamic.
