I have never watched the Espy's. Never seemed like the type of Award show that would be interesting. Well just turned and saw my baby Candace Parker OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW,will turn off now.
Its a mickey mouse TV show. It makes a similar sports awards show they hold in france look half credible...and thats saying something!
I've never watched them and probably never will. I only watch Sportscenter about once/month (for ~2-3 minutes). I only give ESPN the time of day when they show an actual sporting event.
I laughed. "Hey, look there's Brett Farve. How you doin Brett? Haven't heard much about you in the news lately." To Beckham: "I have to give you props for raising America's interest in soccer this much." [uses fingers to show small raise] "What a great year for Eli Manning. Wins the Super Bowl and sees a woman naked for the first time. Congratulations." [Eli has uncomfortable smile and his new wife turns red] To Rodgers: "I'm so sorry. Give me a hug." Then the interview skit (Mike Gundy, Ozzie Guillen, Brett Farve, TO)
Most of you guys aren't even giving it a chance before you start bashing it. I never understood the art of bashing something you never seen. If you saw it and thought it sucked, cool. I thought this segment was well done and I'm not even a Timberlake fan like some of these she-men on this board. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ns5_NtYvS2I&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ns5_NtYvS2I&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
If you spend your day making hundreds upon thousands of posts on a sports forum, how can you not like an awards show based on sports? Its probably the only awards show on sports and you act like there is something out there better. If your a sports fan, how can you not like a show that brings all the stars from all the sports to one place... I saw it and I think it was good. I have no complaints.
It's just an excuse for ESPN to raise the celebrity aspect of athletes, in turn making casual fans pay more attention and raising the ratings of ESPN. Sports doesn't need an awards show. They already have plenty, like the NBA Finals, the Superbowl, (insert league) MVP ceremony, etc... This as big a joke as that Bravo pop culture award thing they did recently.
They should have made a catergory for "Most Awkward Sports Moment of the Year" - just for this year. The winner: Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers in the same building.
