Vegas Summer League notebook: The final deal

Aaron Brooks, Rockets (26) -- Obviously Brooks made an impression, he was named the top rookie. His quickness and playmaking ability made him a fan favorite, to be sure. Coaches liked what they saw, but question whether he truly can become a pass-first guard or hold his own against all the big guards in the league. Based on the way he scores, though, he might force the Rockets to give him a chance.

    Top 5 rookies
Belinelli -- Sweet shooting and confident, he seems like a perfect fit for the Warriors' system.

Brooks -- There's always a place for small, super-quick guards in the NBA.

Conley -- Has all the tools to be an impact player right away.

Durant -- Not yet polished, but super-talented

Stuckey -- Might not make as much of an impact as his peers, but he was one of the best in Vegas.

I saw this yesterday. I like what I'm hearing about AB. I feel he could be a steal at his pick. He's shown to be explosive and a great scorer. I just hope he doesn't turn into JL3 part 2.

exactly. i'm hoping that next summer we can move rafer in order to make room for him as the backup / spark off the bench.

additionally, james isn't a spring chicken anymore either. it's good to have an explosive young PG waiting in the wings.

Is it me or do guards have an advantage in Summer Leagues cause they handle the ball more and take shots for themselves?

i agree, they have to control the ball most of the time, and if they choose not to distribute it, the other players wont have a chance to shine...

UNLESS the PG avg a high percentage of Assists.
