I didn't see this posted anywhere else, so here it goes. On espn's website they have a rookie report focussing on the rookie of the moment with tidbits on other rooks. Their main article is on Jason Richardson with tidbits on Richard Jefferson, jazz's kirilenko and T. Parker.

Anyway they bring up Griff when discussing Jefferson and once again give us a reason to b*tch.

    Here's the article and link.

    http://espn.go.com/nba/rookiereport/index.html

He's a different player than Eddie Griffin, but Jefferson is proving to be a valuable contributor to first-place Jersey. With Kenyon Martin getting himself suspended a few times, Jefferson has filled in ably. In three starts he averaged 14.7 points and 7 boards, and off the bench he gets a solid 21 minutes a night and surely plays a key role. He's more mature than Griffin, and won't block five shots a game or fire up crazy threes at bad times. Instead, he has the Nets thinking that Keith Van Horn, revived or not, would be nice trade bait this summer.

For some reason they seem to dislike 5 blocks a game and fail to mention that the threes he takes are because that's what's asked of him and that he hits them most of the time, even in the clutch. I'm not sure where the maturity things comes from.

Then they praise the other rooks for 10 ppg or 5 rpg.

I think its been shown time and time again that the ESPN writers really haven't been watching Eddie play, thus their eggregious mistakes when discussing him.

MORE MATURE THAN EDDIE GRIFFIN???? the kid is only 19, yet he plays like a smooth vet! Jacks up 3's??? He has made several clutch 3's the past couple of games, and he's one of the best 3 point shooters on the team! I love how they mention Jefferson's pathetic 14 pts, 7 rebs over 3 games, but they don't even consider Eddie's incredible games for about 10 games now. 6 blocks!

ESPN is more or less NY media. NJ is really close to NY, and the Nets are the NY basketball team, because the Knicks are having an off year, and the Nets are playing well.

Jefferson on the season: 4-19 from 3 point land, 22.1%, FT% 66.7%, 1.47 TO per game, 2.5 PF per game, 23.2 MPG
Griffin on the season: 28-83 from 3 point, 33.7%, 70.0% FT%, 0.69 TO per game, 1.4 PF per game, 20.9 MPG

    One's a 4/5. The other's a 2/3. Which one is which?

    More Jefferson musings:
Shandn Andersn averaged 5.9 points, 2.8 boards, 1.12 TO or 46.2% shooting his rookie year. (16.2 MPG)
Jeffersn is averaging 7.9 points, 4 boards, 1.47 on 40.4% shooting.

Any reason this "mature" player, is averaging close to 1.5 turnovers a game, with a hideous FG% and 3P% with one the best setup guy in the league on his team.

No wonder he doesn't "jack-up" 3s. He can't shoot them.

Great, ESPN. You call Jefferson flat out more mature than Griffin, yet Jefferson has a worse 3P% from a position that is supposed to be better, a lower FT%, and more turnovers per game, and fouls more often. Genius call guys.

We play the Nets in 10 days. Right now, I'd put money on Griffin going 20-10-3.

What the hell????? EG is by far the best rookie in this class and if he was starting he would be averaging 16pts 10boards 2.50blks.
The only rookie who gives EG a run for his money is Gasol but im sure he will be hurt by March leaving the trophy for EG to take.

I don't know what's worse, the East Coast media bias, or the ones who bother to give a damn about what they say?
