Zion has the highest ceiling, also the lowest floor (injury potential) Luka (Allround talent) Tatum (could be defensive mini monster) Zion Trae Fantasy Zion ....... Tatum Luka Trae
I disagree Tatum clearly has the highest ceiling cuz he actually has great height for his position (6'7 with like 7'1 reach or something) as well as his great athletic ability. Luka has the highest floor though but also maybe the lowest potential cuz I dont know how much more better he can be. Like the dude already does everything at a high level offensively but he will never be a monster defensively like Tatum can be. Zion somewhere between Tatum and Luka in terms of potential but he also has the shortest career trajectory cuz of his weight and being undersized. Young shouldnt be mentioned with these 3 until his huge stats actually translate to wins for his teams.
Luka is averaging 29/10/9/1 with an EFG% of 54% at 20 years old......... Zion and Tatum will be lucky to ever reach those numbers.
i think this guys are all so good, that depends more on your needs than anything else. You need a floor leader, clearly luka is the best, and he can still get better, but he will never be a great defender. Is that absolutely terrible? you can ask Dirk, who is one of the best ever and was the same. It limits how you build a team, because you need good defenders around, but he is incredible and so young. Zion is the high risk , high reward. He is a physical phreak with so many skills already. He can pass, rebound, defend, the league has never seen something like him, and if he can stay healthy, i think this is the start of the career of a guy like lebron, mj, kareem, an all time great in the making. Tatum is the most established player of the 3, he is super talented, great size, great defender. I think right now, if you need a team, you go with him , especially since the leap he has made in the last 15 games. But i do think his ceilling is lower than the other too. Trae dosent belong here. He is one of the worst defenders in the league, or the worst, as good as he is on the other side of the court, he is clearly a step below this 3. He dosent make people around him better.
This..... Reporter: "What is your offensive philosophy coach?" Coach: "I don't know, go ask Luka." Teams can always surround players like Luka with defenders, but there have only been a very small group of players that you can build an entire system around.
10 years ago, a guy like Zion would be the clear choice. Now we know better. Injury risk is an obvious issue. But more importantly, big man are becoming obsolete. Unless he can develop LeBron-like skills, he will be Anthony Davis v.2.0, a great player but cannot carry a team.
The disrespect to Morant is crazy. I think he's going to have a Luka-like improvement next season, and be on the fringe of MVP conversations.
