The problem that I have with Yao is that we treat him like a franchise player, and we are building a team around him. If he doesn't live up to expections, then we are destined for failure. Unathletic shooters are only good if you have a dominant big man like Duncan, Dream, or Shaq. If Yao doesn't become dominant pretty soon, we will have a perenial lottery team on our hands.
these rankings are all kind of stupid. If the Rockets go out and beat dallas and san antonio this week we will be back near the top 10.
Do you even understand the concept of power rankings? They are a guage to show you how well the teams are currently playing. Are they accurate? No, some biases get in the way, but to scoff at where the Rockets currently are is moronic. We've been playing terrible lately, that's why we are listed at 22. When things turn around, the power rankings will reflect that. Why do you think they update the damn thing every week? Jess!! Learn the to concept of power rankings men!!! "If win 10 straight they will start put us up to #1. Jess!! Stick with your choice men!!! " I'm sorry, this line just keeps pissing me off, I have to keep harping on it. I mean explain to me the point of posting the exact same list week after week?
Oh really, you mean they'll change the WEEKLY rankings to reflect the Rockets beating 2 really good teams? Wow, ESPN should do that every week with all the teams. They can call it Power Rankings.
uh, let me take a wild guess here...you've never played competitive basketball...you obviously have no clue about basketball if you don't see tremendous potential in Yao. He's surely not living up to it right now, but if you think we should give up on someone with that kind of rare talent then you surely are clueless. Patience is warranted here, and I'm betting it will pay off in spades if the Rox practice it.
