Earlier tonight I saw a commercial for ESPN that was interesting. In it a cabbie in China is driving around listening to the radio. He switches around various Chinese stations until he gets to a country music one that is playing "Houston (Means I'm One Day Closer to You)" (I had to look that up) that he settls on and likes. Anyway, he is driving around and a bus pulls up next to him and there is Yao wearing a Rockets uniform with Houston on the front and the ad says something along the lines of "Only in sports". Anyway, the point of this thread - I got confused for a while since our Jerseys don't say Houston so I played it back and saw that, sure enough, it was Yao wearing a retro jersey. ESPN had to cheat a little to make their "sports is universal" claim because the Rockets avoided city branding in order to make the Rockets more universal. I found that to be ironic. So, yes, the lack of Houston on our jerseys still sucks.
I never said that it was new. I just was hit by the irony and thought some on here might enjoy it since this was a concern when the new uniforms were unveiled.
