1987 Western Conference Semis Game 6
    Sonics 128-Rockets 125 Double Overtime
    Sonics win series 4-2

    OH MY!!!!!!!!!

I missed the first showing but got to see the second at 3am, well worth it. DAAAAAMMNNNN, what a game!

    Hakeem the Dream:
    49 points
    23 rebounds
    7 blocks

Man, that guy was so athletic...Ralph Sampson was ok, but missed a clutch wide open jumper. He's agile and quick, but not dominant.

The game was amazing..the Rocks, who were defending western conf champs had SEVERAL oportunities to win the game in regulation and overtimes. The thing is Dream was UNSTOPPABLE, but when it came down to the last possesions, the sonics SWARMED him. He kicked it out and there were multiple missed drives and missed open shots.

Another thing was the crowd. I was too young to watch hoops back then but wow, that was a very genuine crowd full of joyful basketball fans. I wish crowds were like that today. It was almost like a college atmosphere.

The sonics were the underdog, a patched up group of vets who hadn't made the playoff in 3 years. They upset Dallas in the 1st round (who had their best regular season ever), but eventually lost to LA, who if I'm not mistaken, beat Bos in the finals...or maybe boston beat LA..I don't know, they met like 5 times.

Seattle had Nate McMillan, Eddie Johnson, Dale Ellis (awesome display of shooting), Tom Chambers who had 37 points, Xavier McDaniel...

Houston had McCray, Reid, Dream, some guy named Anderson (a late 80's version of Bullard), cedric Maxwell, and Sampson..

The problem was houston had no 3pt shooting at all..they were 3 of 21 IN THE SERIES. I don't thing shooting the 3 was big back then.

It was also pretty cool to see Rudy T right outside the huddles...I guess he was an assitant coach to Bill Fitch. Seattle's coach was Bernie Bickertaff.

EPSN Classic is definitely a wonderful channel. The announcers (by the way, I had no idea CBS broadcasted hoops) were very prophetic in saying that the game was a "Classic."

Dream was just soo quick and awesome...WOW. Thanks KidRocket for the info.
