Actually, I honestly think that if the team had league-average FG% (instead of below average FG% like they do right now) Lin would be having 12 or so assists even with his current usage. (that is, if he is playing as PG instead of SG)

So Jeremy shoots 34.3% and Harden shoots 43.6% and you guys call Lin a scrub? While the shooting may appear atrocious moving him up to Hardens percentage means he hits another 2-3 shots per game. Big whoop.

    I believe wrong on timeline.
Knicks trade for Felton and actually still could match Houston offer for Lin.

of course you would think that... he is not a shooting guard, how hard is that to understand?

too be honest, when Rox stole Lin from the Knicks....I was hoping he would have free reign to do a few drives to the basket...

which ended when Melo came back to the Knicks...

lighten up the fact we were going to have to watch a cr@ppy Rox team

instead he is camped out at the 3 point line... making it even more unbearable to watch...

2 or 3 shots is the margin that the Rockets have lost 3 games by this season, already. It's a gigantic deal. 44% is average for guards, 34% is Spanoulis-esque. It's like saying the difference between a .300 hitter and a .220 hitter is meaningless.

Yeah its easy to make a bad correlation like that. The game isn't decided on those 2-3 shots alone. My point is JLin's shooting isn't the only reason the rockets are losing.

You are correct, but that's not exactly what I meant. The actual matching was letting the deadline pass, but they didn't make the effort to trade for Felton until they were sure they weren't going to match on Lin.

My mistake for not being clear. Felton wasn't even on the radar really until they had decided on Lin as the intention was Lin + Kidd.

It would have made no sense to get Felton as a 3rd PG, especially when you have Prigioni as a pick and matching would have put Lin on a starter salary.

So we're going to ignore Harden iso plays as the last 3-4 possessions in crucial games. Or perhaps TD's contribution or PPats rebounding and put the blame on Lin for the team losing those games?

Lin's shooting poorly right now. That's a fair criticism. There can be a debate about whether other factors are playing a part in that, but it's still a fair criticism. But to go from that to imply that the rocket's have lost 3 games out of 6 losses because of him is just plain wrong.

I never said they've lost 3 games because of Lin. I was refuting a point that 2 or 3 shots per game isn't a big deal. It is often the difference between winning and losing.

Lots of reasons for losing, but in the aggregate, I'd have to say that Lin bears some share of that. His shooting is just too poor to keep defenses honest, and we're counting on his ability to score in this offense, not just set up others. He doesn't need to be linsanity, but he needs to be a league-average PG. He's not, so far, but I still think he can get there.

He should just drive and attack the rim at all times, layup if not over-contested, draw the foul or dish out to open man if defense collapses. He is much better at finishing tough layups then hitting open shots. And NO he shouldn't be practicing his shooting in actual games. Thats what practice is for.

Though the Harden trade was a great trade, I think it would have been better for Lin's performance if we had kept KMart. KMart is one of the best players without the ball, and Lin is most effective when he has the ball all the time. It would have been fun to watch. Repeat though - it was best for the Rockets to make the trade for Harden, no doubt.
