Ignoring the salary cap and other practicalities, how good would it be to have Steve Francis back. Specifically would you trade:
Don't know who Steve Frances is and, no, I don't want Steve Francis back. He doesn't fit with this team, period. Besides, we are much better off with Mike James and Sura.
First off, trade deadline has passed. Any trade talks before free agent market opens are ludicrious at this point. Now, we dont have anything to trade for SF not named Yao or Tmac. Lastly, we dont miss SF at all. See you for good.
Sorry to start this 1 star thread. I am more interested in what the spread of opinion on the board is than in the question itself. Not too much middle ground it seems.
without SF: the rockets are greater than the sum of their parts. with SF: the rockets are less than the sum of their parts. Hell, they might as well not have some other parts because SF is not smart enough to pass to them. Look, enough of this SF fascination. He is a good athlete. He is a an above average basketball player. If you want to be a team that is on the bubble of the playoffs every year and a guaranteed first round exit, he's your man. You'll probably never be bad enough to get a real lottery pick. You're damned to eternal mediocrity, at best. Do we really have to talk about this anymore? Can't everyone just see that SF is fun for highlights, video games and streetball? My lord. give it a rest. edit: i need to talk to clutch about a zero star rating.
I voted "Sorry Steve - you are surplus to requirements" because I would like to see the confused look on his face when he got a letter in the mail which reads "Sorry Steve - you are surplus to requirements"
I think that is a bit harsh. OK so it is a stupid question but its interesting to me that 2/3 people here think loosing him has been a good thing, but 1/5 havent yet let go.
I'd do it. Steve Francis is still young and the guy can flat out play. He commits way too many turnovers, is moody, but he would improve by playing next to TMac and sharing the point guard duties. Also, he now has an example of how JVG wants a point guard to play, plus he could add his own ideas to the examples because he has more natural talent than Sura and Mike James. Sura is a good rebounder, but so is Steve. I think you'd be crazy not to make this trade.
