8th seed? You guys are ****ing nuts. Why is it that whenever someone mentions post-season, it's either 8th seed or the lottery.

Playoffs would be great (I still feel confident that they'll make it), but I don't see 8th seed. I see 7th. And I would hope 7th.

I love how some of you "BELIEVE", but if all you see possible is 8th seed, then how the hell can you keep BELIEVEing? (yes I know it's misspelled)

It's the Spurs; yes, Houston has a chance, but it's near impossible to defeat them. Oh, so they make it to the 8th seed. At best they win, what two games?

And then it's just another frustrating, unsatisfying ending against the best team. And then the media will continue to dog this TMAC "can't get out of the first-round" myth.

I'm sorry, but I BELIEVE just as much as the big time BELIEVErs, but if the highest the goals are set is a defeat waiting to happen against San Antonio, I can't buy it.

Once healthy, Houston will be one of the top 2-3 teams in the West and will make the playoffs. Once injuries are resolved, I think stringing some solid winning streaks will be achieved and then playoff talk can resume.

I honestly BELIEVE that Houston will be at worst 7th seed. Even 6th seed if TMAC realizes that spot is the easiest path out of the first round.

As a Rockets fan (not just a TMac or Yao fan) ,the only thing that pisses me off more than 2 playoff appearances the past 6 years is not even getting through to the second round since 1997.

This is a big reason why I feel that if the core of this team can't stay healthy, this year at least (thus no playoffs), Carroll Dawson needs to go. It's easy to be a critic, but for ****'s sake, on your own you've done a horrid job putting a franchise on the path to success in your tenure.

Sure, JVG probably had a lot to do with recent moves, but if that's the case, then what's the point of having Dawson anyway?? Might as well give basketball operation control to Van Gundy.

i've never wanted to admit it...but if T-Mac is out more than 10 games....i say we tank.. that'll put us at 30 losses... and nothing but and uphill battle to make the playoffs, which will have to include more minutes for T-Mac and Yao, which will probably put them back on injured list.... Who now's maybe we can get high enough to get Morrison

    Nice post, droxford.

I was saying to my wife that it's rough to be a Rox fan right now, but we aren't done yet, and I'm definately not throwing in the towel yet.

Lots of sports 'fans' take the easy road and predict a loss when things seem bleak. It's a defensive mechanisim of the weak mind- when we end up winning, the same 'fan' always says something along the lines of 'I'm sure glad I was wrong!!!'.

It's the BS refuge of p***y fans. Either stand behind your team, or don't support them when they are up.

    I agree with Drox.

For those that say tanking, are obviously punks. I mean those people must have no competitive nature in them whatsoever. I mean when s*** gets hot, do you always just quit prematurely? Do other things happen prematurely for you? Ok, cheap shot, but whatever. When a professional sports team "tanks" a season, they don't deserve to be a professional sports team. If you think tanking a season is good, then you need to look at the character of your players, and then think...if they can tank a season, are they really winners?

T-Mac can be put to this test when he was in Orlando. He had a horrid season out there, but he still went out everynight and dropped points down on opposing teams. If you want to say he quit, it was near the end of the season, hardly tanking at the point many are saying here.

As long as this team still fights, I'll still watch them. I want them to win, but I was the Rockets b/c they are my team and it's entertainment to me.

    I admit it,
    Im a hard core fan,
    I bleed Rocket Red,
    but Im not an idiot.

We are 0-11 with Tracy out.
With this new back injury before you know it we could be 20 games under .500

Im not giving up, and Im not saying we are tanking.
But its obvious if I was in Vegas and setting lines,
things arent looking too good for the Rockets.
Im not trying to be a pessimist, just realistic.
God knows I want this team to go to the playoffs as much as the next man.
After all, its my own hard earned dollars that I plunked down on lower level season tickets. :(

How can you guys blame people if they think this is not the Rocket's year like they had hoped? If you haven't noticed everything that can go wrong has gone wrong! I don't like the guys who think we should tank, that is stupid, but some people just think that it's not going to work out for the Rockets this season, I don't blame them one bit.

Don't count your team out until they are mathimaticly eliminated. Remember the '94 playoffs vs Phoenix? Or how about the Astros last year? The Houston Chronicle printed a friggin tombstone for them and they made it to the World Series! Believe, folks!

We aren't done yet as Rocket's fans. However, one can be realistic, too. , if were to lose say 5 of the next 6 without Tracy, our record would be 13 and 25.

We would then need to go 29 and 17 to get to 42 wins or 50%,which should be the absolute minimum for the 8th see. One or two of the several teams ahead of us for the 8th seed will surely get to the 50% mark by the season's end. If you assume 47 wins to get the 8th seed. We would need to go 34 and 10.

The next 6 to 10 games, long before yao's return and perhaps without Tracy will determine the playoff chances.

There is no way the Rockets should tank their season. EVER. That is the path of losers. They should fight for every win up until the last game.

Having said that, McGrady should not be rushed back. His long term health is much more important to this team than a single season.

Tanking guarantees nothing, and is a choice of no honor whatsoever. Be careful what you wish for, it might come true. An anyone who thinks this season is over hasn't been watching baseball in this town for the last two years. I agree, we've encountered some serious adversity, but this builds character, and it's not too late for that character to make us even better than we'd all hoped we would be this season.

Here's to hoping T-mac turns out alright, gets some rest, and gets well enough to play. The rest of the team needs to step up, and I think they can and will. We should do much better this season than the basketball we've seen so far.

Alston looks good, but Stromile reminds me so much of Cato its distressing. I'm hoping they find a way to get him the ball that he is comfortable with, because last night it seemed he was just waiting on it, and looked inept at times. He should play better than this... I expect he will, but it needs to happen soon (tonight).

i like the post. i like the thread. yao and tracy will be back in time together to lead us to the playoffs...hopefully with sura coming back in the middle.

it's gonna be like the climax of a cheesy but fun sports movie. All the big boys come back in the game together and lead the team from down in the 4th quarter to the win.

and when we make the playoffs after this horrendous start and terrible luck with injuries, you'll be feeling "rudy! rudy! rudy!" "Touchdown Mud Dogs!" "yeahhhhhhhhhhh ahhhh" (keanu) "remember the day they played the titans!" and all the other stuff. cue some sweet music up

Losing hope in a successful season is one thing, maybe even an understandable thing, but to suggest tanking is nothing short of a b***h move.

For me its enough...It's either fire the coach or make a trade in order to turn the season around...

You're right. I'm tired of JVG's antics. First he gives TMac back spasms. Then he infects Yao's toenail. Then he gives TMac back spasms again. JVG sure is a jerk!
