any of you guys have experience with Empire Today? Had a sales guy come out and give me a quote but was a little disturbed when he refused to give me a price/sqft. He did give me a quote which seems reasonable but without the sqft I'm not 100% sure how good or bad the deal is. any feedback about Empire Today would be great. Also if you guys have any alternatives for wood flooring or laminate wood companies would be great. thanks.
My father was a painting contractor and he didn't like to quote on a square foot basis, because some square feet are easier to paint than others. So, he'd just look at a space and quote a price. But, it is a little weird for a company big enough to have a salesperson to do things that way. Don't you know the square footage? Can't you just divide his price by the square footage to make your own number to compare by?
i don't know it exact. he measured hallways and closets etc... but that's the thing, after he'd done all the meausements he refused to give me the number. I guess I could understand why but my feeling was if your confident in your price it wouldn't be such a big deal.
I don't know for sure, but I bet if you let your fingers do the walking in the yellow pages and try to find a local place, you'd come up with a better price than a place like Empire. Maybe not, but I'd try it out. I'd also measure the area myself so I'd at least have an idea of how many sq. ft we're talking about. Usually, with this in hand, you can get a decent quote over the phone on flooring, or at least weed out the expensive ones.
