I've got CNN on in the background...just mentioned it when they went to commercial...can't find a link anywhere.
Elizabeth Smart, if I remember correctly, is the young girl from Utah who was taken from her home. Elizabeth has been missing for months. I think you may be confusing her with the the pregnant woman who disappeared on Christmas Eve.
so who is elizabeth smart? when i first saw the name i thought it was a little girl that had disappeared a while ago. apparently not if we're asking about her baby.
I hope she comes out of this ok. If she has been held in captivity all this time that would be dreadful. At least she is alive...here is hoping to her coming out of this ok mentally too. DD
I always follow the missing children stories for some reason. Honestly, I was not expecting such a happy ending (well, we'll see what her predicament was but I can't believe she's still alive). This made my day.
This is all so far... ___________ Teen Elizabeth Smart Found Alive SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Elizabeth Smart, the 15-year-old girl who vanished from her bedroom nearly eight months ago, was found alive Wednesday during a traffic stop in suburban Salt Lake City, police said. "Miracles do exist," said the girl's uncle, Tom Smart. The girl was found in the car of a drifter who was pulled over in a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon, Sandy police spokeswoman Michelle Burnette said. "Two separate women called in and said they thought they had spotted `Emmanuel,'" she said. Emmanuel, whose real name is Brian David Mitchell, once did work on the Smart's home.
Brian Mitchell in custody. Apparently, it was him...and a phone call from a citizen caused the traffic stop.
A little more... __________ Missing Teen Elizabeth Smart Found Alive SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Elizabeth Smart, the 15-year-old girl who vanished from her bedroom nearly eight months ago, was found alive Wednesday during a traffic stop in suburban Salt Lake City, police said. "Two separate women called in and said they thought they had spotted 'Emmanuel,'" she said. Emmanuel, whose real name is Brian David Mitchell, once did work on the Smart's home. Sandy police pulled over Mitchell, another woman and a girl who looked like Elizabeth. They later confirmed her identity, police said. Salt Lake City police detectives arrived to take over the investigation. Smart was transferred to the Salt Lake city police station. Mitchell was in custody at the Sandy police station. Last month, Elizabeth's parents announced a new reward for information and asked for help in their search for the handyman known only as "Emanuel." They released a sketch of the man. At the time, they said Elizabeth's sister, Mary Katharine, had come to them recently to say "Emanuel" bore some resemblance to the man who took Elizabeth from their room at gunpoint.
This has to be the dumbest kidnapper alive. He kidnaps a girl in Salt Lake City, it's national news, and not only does he stay in Utah but he's busted in Sandy, which is the equivalent of committing a nation-wide, major crime in Austin and driving around Round Rock. Hope she's OK. If that were my daughter, I don't know what would keep me from beating the hell out of "Emmanuel".
I just hope that the poor girl isn't traumatized by the experience and that he wasn't a sick b*stard with her!!
