Oh so, the fact the two are long-time friends doesn't matter? Give me a break. Please tell me why Shaq would maliciously shove T-Mac. Please. I'm listening.
No McGrady's push was pretty hard. Nash was in a flat footed position which would make him easy to push over not to mention the sprawling of legs and such. If there's anyone other than Banres and Rafer who deserve further punishment it's Nash. He's the one that ran up and pushed Rafer from behind. Mac and Yao pretty much ahd the scuffle broken up when that happened.
Yeah, Shaq is good friends with T Mac and Yao. He was just protecting his team mates. The way that T Mac was standing over Nash after he pushed him would cause anyone to react. I think the refs did a good job but I still think it's debatable whether Rafer should have been ejected. It's not like he ran across to Barnes throwing punches or anything. He just got up under him. Shaq pushing everybody was hilarious though. I'm surprised he didn't run over and give Scola and Brooks a shove since he was pushing every and anyone in a red jersey.
Okay, watched it again. Nash ran in, pushed Rafer (for NO reason) and fell over from his push. TMac tried to separate Nash (may have given him a little push), but Nash was already falling over, making it look like Tracy gave him a huge shove. Shaq comes in and THROWS Mcgrady away, and then pushes Yao. Then, goes over to Rafer (who's gone after Nash because he pushed him for no reason) and SHOVES him with full force. WATCH THE VIDEO.
Rafer needed to be ejected, because despite Barnes initiated the actual confrontation himself, Rafer did go after Barnes. He could have easily walked down the court, complaining about the horrible no call, but instead he went and confronted Barnes. The only other person that could have even been considered being slapped with an ejection is Nash, since he went after Rafer. Everyone else was protecting their teammates/breaking it up. Nothing to do their but slap some techs around. Other than the initial missed call, the refs did a great job.
I loved all of it, I like the intensity we were playing with in the 3rd. I thought shaq was funny to how he shoved everyone. I believe rafer and barnes should be further punishment, but rafer suspension for 1 game and Barnes a minimum 5. ive always hated Barnes. Just another hoodrat running around the nba. The next Rodman.
I WATCHED IT LIVE OVER AND OVER. You can tell from T-Mac's expression that he was upset with Nash, not just trying to separate it. He gave Nash a pretty good shove, and Nash was in flat-footed stance, so he took a tumble. Shaq shoves T-Mac, and T-Mac goes down. Now Shaq's push on Yao was HARDLY anything at all, just enough to get him out of the way, only reason Yao semi-fell was because he tripped over T-Mac was being careful not to land on him. Also, Shaq didn't just decide to run and shove Alston for no reason. Alston, Nash, and Barnes were still at it, so he's still involved with that. It wasn't some vicious shove for no reason.
McGrady shoved Nash pretty hard, don't fool yourself. I've watched it many many times. Shaq and McGrady were both protecting teammates. Sure they shouldn't have pushed, but that's just what's gonna happen. Give em' a tech and move on.
It was handled well. End of story. Barnes deserves a suspension, and Rafer will probably get a small one. Only other person to look at is Nash, but other than that, just move on. Good game. Lots of intensity. Great win.
Okay, this will probably be my last comment on this. Yes, TMac gave Nash a shove, BUT Nash was already falling over. Shaq started pushing people who were no threat to anyone. He should be suspended, in my opinion. Were Shaq not to get involved, would any of his teammates have faced more danger? The answer is no. End of story. Nash should be suspended for running up and escalating things. Rafer should be suspended, because I believe, he took a swipe at Nash after he fell. Then he continued to go after Nash. My final, revised, suspension tallies are: Barnes: 6 Games for starting a needless incident. It should have been a Flagrant II, and I'm not sure what type of suspension that would be anyways. Nash: 1 Game for escalating things Shaq: 3 Games for throwing himself into something, in a somewhat violent way, that he didn't need to be a part of Rafer: 3 Games for his thrown punch/slap/push/whatever it was.
Shaq pushed tmac becuase tmac pushed nash to the floor nothing wrong with that he was just protecting his teammate. I was just wondering where the hell ron artest was in this kind of situation so he could handle matt barnes or at least get in his face to scare him away wish he was on the court to scare away the suns.
Uh... no? 6 games and basically all he did was give Rafer a shove. I wasn't aware they gave suspensions for escalations. They give them out for punches thrown generally. Again, no punches, just a few shoves. People get shoved and the most they will get is a tech if it looks intentional. If its within the game its just a foul. Seriously, a shove is nothing. If anyone gets a suspension it would be Rafer for basically starting the fight. Barnes gave the initial shove, but if Rafer hadn't responded it would've just been a really horrible no call. That being said, Rafer didn't really do anything other than get in the guys face and maybe try to grab the guy. No punches thrown. It wouldn't surprise me if no one got suspended.
So, you're saying that that would not be considered a flagrant foul? You're also saying that if someone were to just walk up to someone else and push them in a game, they would not call a technical? I don't know what league you watch, but people don't just shove people like that in the course of a game, and nothing happens...
At least the Rockets won't have a reputation of being wusses just cause theyre finesse players. If Tmac pushed Nash and ran away like Carmelo did that woulda been embarassing.
I'm actually not saying that. It should've been AT LEAST a foul. You could make a good argument that its a flagrant because its really unnecessary and excessive contact, which is the definition of a flagrant. Although, I'm not going to lose any sleep if they don't call a flagrant. But 6 games? People get 1 game for punches, take downs, etc. And he gets 6 games for a push?
6 games is a stretch. Out of that whole thing, it was merely pushes and shoves. NO punches were thrown. Nothing that warrants a lengthy suspension. I think they should fine the refs who didn't call anything on the Barnes forearm.
Because Tmac asked Shaq "tell me how my **** taste?" after he was kissed by Shaq in 07's allstar game. last night he asked Shaq the same question again.
Watching ESPN, and no surprise they are saying it's our fault for the whole thing. Skip Bayless is saying that Tmac triggered the whole thing with a pick. It didn't look rough or physical from any other pick. Matt Barnes "pick" started the whole thing. Matt Barnes launched himself into Rafer.
