I said many times during the off-season that the Rockets had too much talent. I admitted that it sounded crazy to say that, but it's turned out to be true.

i think this team needs a true leader out there one who can handle the team specially in crunch time, AB lacks true point guard skills, Martin does not have enough handles, and yao...... even tough he is making progress with his injury he can potentialy go down any given night.

I agree except for Battier. I've loved how he's fit on this team until this year. Maybe it's not his fault, maybe it's the rotations or some other unknown, but he has has been an eye sore on both ends so far this year.

Guys, don't get caught up in my proposed rotation, that is not the point.....

Use your own if you like...the point still stands.....we are playing too many guys.

That's right. Also limited minutes for Battier in the second half. Budinger played 26 on the night, Battier 21.

DD, I have no solutions and I'm glad I'm not the one who has to make the decisions. You may be correct that if we shorten the rotation, players will get more settled and build up that team chemistry. There's something to that. I'm just worried that the particular players you've chosen will not help to turn around our defensive issues.

The real fix? I remember what you said, DD, a few months ago. We play Yao all out and if it doesn't work out, give him a gold watch watch, thank him for the great memories, and move on. His game and foot seems to be fine...he's much further along than I expected him to be. We can blame the coach, blame the rotation, blame Battier...but 7'6" in the middle cures a lot of ills. I think we also need to slow the pace of the game down...a lot.

In any case, 24 minutes and back to backs are what we have to live with. We basically have to find 2 identities for this team...a team with Yao and a team without. It sucks, but we have to live with it. I personally expected a slow start for the first 15-20 games...maybe not 0-4 to start, but Adelman is still tinkering for the right combos. It will be an 8-9 player rotation eventually, but not until at least 20 games into the season. Don't panic! We have too much talent and too smart of a coach to panic. Adelman doesn't have a 60% career winning percentage as a coach being the moron some of you guys are making him out to be.

True but if you give a tinerer too many toys....

And I agree with you about Yao 100%......play him......and see if he holds up....this is a contract year...find out if he is able to play in the league any more.

One other thought - shortening the rotation leaves 2 or 3 worthy players on the bench every night. Maybe I play too much 2k11 but that could get ugly in a hurry. Either way, I don't see this team getting much better until we shorten our rotation through a trade for a star player.

Why his been the beast back up for us and have only play one game.

Team are not attacking the basket for wide open layup, he is getting rebounds and he is blocking shoots.

The only thing he need to do is stop swatting the blocks is cost us like 5 points. just soft block it to keep the position.

I can't agree more on the rotation. what is really bothering me is 5M spent on Miller and 2M on Dampier, in total 7M, as result, how long they played in the court?

everyone talks about telent of players rather the defensive talents. see what we have, yao, scola, martin, brooks. they all are weak on defense. try to overscore opponents ? what idiots.

Yao is not weak on defense. Even this season, his presence is making an impact.

It's pretty obvious that our problem is on the defensive side.

All relevent to the point of this thread, they have no idea whom is guarding whom or whom is covering whom when switches are made or not made.

There is no cohesion on either side of the ball, especially defense.

Forget 8. Melo would have been enough.

Whatever..this year will be the last year of this nonsense. Don't take on any contracts and save up for the summer.

LOL thanks DD, for stealing my thread a page back ;) i guess we think alike.
But yes i totally agree, if you have too many toys, you never fully realize the potential of a certain few.

I would contend too much talent for the type of coach we have. Adelman is the absolute worst guy to give this type of team to. It needs a guy who can play matchups well and doesnt care at what point he puts in guys or minutes. None of that screams Rick Adelman so Morey kind of screwed him on that. Adelman needs a set rotation of superstars to manage who have defined roles on this team. Thats how he coaches and this is the anti Rick Adelman team. This is the stat geek Morey team that Morey would field if he were coach.

Exactly. The best way to shrink the rotation is to trade the assets we have lying around on the bench for some legitimate all-star quality talent.
