Really. This trade sounds a little fishy. Shareef makes 12.375 million a year. That means the Rockets would have also had to trade Rice.

Uh, oh. Looks like this is the deal that the Rockets turned down.:

Houston trades: PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.0 apg in 24.8 minutes)
SF Glen Rice (9.0 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 1.3 apg in 28.2 minutes)
Houston receives: PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (20.0 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 38.2 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +2.4 ppg, -1.4 rpg, and +0.6 apg.

Atlanta trades: PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (20.0 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 38.2 minutes)
Atlanta receives: PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.0 apg in 48 games)
SF Glen Rice (9.0 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 1.3 apg in 32 games)
Change in team outlook: -2.4 ppg, +1.4 rpg, and -0.6 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

Well if we declined Griffin for Rahim, then Griffin might be delt by tomorrow? I love Griffin and what he can become, but at the same time I want results NOW!

Someone should list the PF that are on the trading block as of yesterday.

Elton Brand???

I believe the point is Griffin and X (insert name) is our most readily available, if not only move. We could probably trade Griffin and Rice for just about anyone this summer with Rices' contract expiring at the end of next season (BRAND). And if not this summer, this time next year, we have a blank check. I suspect that Griffin will have solidified his place with the team by then and we will be looking for another position. I also suspect, this time next year the discussions will revolve around, "Trade Nachbar, we want results now, trade Nachbar for _______ to play Small Forward!".

And I'm not the brightest candle, because I wanted Slo Mile.

I think that tonights game may have secured Cuttino and Rice's future in Houston for the time being. Any offer that's on the table right now, will be available in the offseason as well. If Atlanta wants to dump SAR for Rice and Griffin, they'd be more than happy to do so this summer. Carrol Dawson does not want to pull a Bob Whitsitt and trade a potential Jermaine O'Neal for Dale Davis (although I'll admit that SAR is light years ahead of Rahim).

When you trade three first round picks for a 20 year old phenom you better wait at least a couple of years. And Yao will not be able to anchor an entire defense by himself. Griffin will make Yao's job much much easier.

This team just needs a consistent shooter. Piatkowski in the offseason should be pretty high on our list. Maurice is coming about and I think him and Eddie can do an adequate job.

Give this team a chance.

Just say no to Raheem and Ray and Eddie Jones and Brian Grant.

Shareef doesn't block shots.

Shareef doesn't do defense.

Shareef doesn't do passing.

Shareef does big pay for little play.

Just say no to Shareef. And Ray. And Eddie. And Brian.

Ugh I didn't want to believe it at first but yes this is true. David Aldridge on NBA2night reported that the Hawks contacted the ROX about adbur-raheim for EG but the rockets rejected it. I hope Eddie pans out or the rockets are going to look like idiots.

I guess the answer is 2 words: Rox Cheap. they don't want to spend money, that's it. I don't see how they can reject the deal basketballwise.

EG and SAR don't match salary wise though. Maybe Hawks demand more than just EG.

I am still hoping for a Griff for Brand trade. Brand is what the team needs, and he is only 23.

-G'day-

I can't believe this is true. No way the Rockets would reject this trade. Shareef is everything Griffin can be, but Shareef has proven him self Griffin has not. Unless the Rockets are about to get Garrnett the Rockets would have not rejected.

Why draft a 19 year old if you are not willing to wait for his developement?

News Flash: The Rockets cannot afford any more bad contracts.
News Flash: The Rockets are not owned by Mark Cuban.

If you are a fiscally restrained team, there is one rule you must abide by if you want to win championships: DO NOT PAY THE MAX TO MARGINAL STARS.

New York is a prime example of this, with the $100 mill they are paying Houston. It isn't getting them very far, is it?

Now I know some of you are missing the playoffs, but try to understand this: the Rockets are being built around Steve and Yao. If a player will not fit around them, they will not be brought in.

That's the thing. They don't even come close. We're talking 12.375 million and 2. million. So, to those of you who are thinking the Rockets rejeceted Abdur-Rahim for Griffin straight up, get that out of your head right now.

I'm not going to believe anything until I see what the full trade was, because there would obviously have to be at least one other "big name" player involved.
