Oh my...you must have not seen him play against the Rockets. Cuz he owned us. He just whooped us. When I saw him play, he did well. I'm sorry, but he is a better player than Eddie Griffin. Maybe he can play even better because he knows he is secure and is on a playoff team.

I just hope there is a trade... :(

I'd actually reject the trade also. Shareef has got some skills, but I don't think he rebounds well for a PF and I'd rather have an enforcer or defensive/rebounding type of PF over an offensive weapon in the post. I think it's tough to have 2 potent weapons down low that command the ball. I'd rather have a PJ Brown, Brad Miller type of player that will act as enforcer and also grab rebounds. Also, I still think EG can become a great PF.

For the sake of all of you who say that we shouldn't make the deal, I'll post SAR's numbers for this year and his career numbers.

    Age:26

    2002-03

    20.0 ppg 8.2 rpg 2.9 apg 47% FG 31.8% 3 pt 82.3% FT 1.02 spg .51 bpg 2.85 TO

    Career

    20.8 ppg 8.3 rpg 2.9 apg 46.4% FG 29.6% 3 pt 80.3% FT 1.12 spg .95 bpg 3.07 TO

I really don't know how you can argue not to make this trade, yeah EG has potential, but SAR has proven it for 7 years in the NBA, and he's only 26. God, I really hope Rudy and CD have something really big on the table, if the indeed turned this down.

THANK YOU REALLY FOR POINTING THAT OUT. He is much better than Griffin. The only issue is money....but man...how could you not accept. Lord...there has to be something good. :)

Anyways...someone just said to me that SAR is kinda old....HE'S ONLY 26!!! Our team will still be like the 2nd youngest team in the NBA.

Man...too bad. We lost a great opportunity.

Please, PLEASE be right Sane. I love the Rockets and I'm not convinced that we don't have any problems that time and maturity can't solve. I am also a fan and would love to see some life really injected into this team and a trade that could make us an instant contender.

Rockets must be up to something for this trade to be rejected. There is no way you say no to this trade. Something is in the mix. Remember Drexler Trade that was GREAT.

I have yet to see any proof or confirmation of this, just ghost stories and fairy tales -- calm down people.

Does Eddie have the potential to be a 20/8 guy? I don't know. All I know is Reef is hard to guard. But, with Steve/Cat/Yao, how would we split up the shots?

    Man...you wouldn't need to worry!!!

If we actually had all of the 4 great players...maybe Allen instead of Mobley...we would be unstoppable.

    Shareef:

    38.1 mpg; .464 fg%; .803 ft%; 8.3 rpg (10.46 per 48m); 2.9 apg; 1.12 spg; 0.95 bpg; 3.07 topg; 20.8 ppg

    Eddie:

    25.6 mpg; .378 fg%; .685 ft%; 5.9 rpg (1.06 per 48m); 0.9 apg; 0.36 spg; 1.82 bpg; 0.83 topg; 8.7 ppg

According to their stats, Shareef is a better passer and Griffin is slightly better at rebounding. Shareef turns the ball over more, probably because he handles the ball more. On defense, Eddie is a better blocker and Shareef a better stealer. So, they are about even overall in terms of the "little things."

The biggest difference, of course, is in scoring. Shareef is a much more consistent shooter and a much more prolific scorer. The present Shareef is clearly better than the present Eddie.

Eddie, on the other hand, has youth (translate to "upside") on his side. Shareef has basically peaked. Eddie still has pretty much potential. The tough question is: How fast and how much will he develop?

that's true, although I find it very likely that Griffin would not be a 20/8 guy on the Hawks.

Would they play any Rocket(s) involved in Serious discussions tonight. By serious, I mean the accounting department is reviewing the contract swap vs. the luxury tax threshhold? The braintrust on both sides agree, but everyone is waiting for the accountants...errr. ..finance people to pound out the financial ramifications of the trades. For instance if Mobes and MoT were involved in a deal for Allen, would they sit them tonight.

Knowing Mobes, he'll attempt a pass tonight and the fact that those muscles don't get much work, he'll snap a muscle or a tendon or a bone, and then the deal will fall off the table. Just kidding, Mobes, you know the land_Sharks love ya, bro.

Goodness, EG's my boy, and EVERYONE SAYING "NO WAY" should take note that EG is not a bust, is still highly regarded throughout the L and we shouldn't talk to the Hawks' fans. They tried to steal our Eddie, steal him, I tell ya, steal him. Bad, bad, Hawks'...

I wouldn't turn this deal down.

I don't expect griffin to become better than Rahim anyway, and if the Rocketes turned it down, they must have something else up their sleeves.

I can't find anything on ESPN.com that talks about this. Did you see this on the website? hear about it on ESPN radio? or hear about it on ESPNEWS/Sports Center?

Shareef's offensive game is about all we could ever ask for from Eddie. The only downside would be on defense. Shareef strikes me as an average defender and not NEAR the shot blocker Eddie is. But then again, with Yao in the middle how important is Eddie's shot blocking?

This would be a tough deal to turn down as Shareef has already proven himself offensively and is still very young!

I still would like some confirmation that this was indeed offered and turned down.

    Clutch, you hear anything?

    Chris

Deuce, I can't find anything either. It was just on TV...I guess. It must not have been very big. Really...Eddie is a great member of our team. But Shareef Abdur Rahim can change our team greatly. We already have Mo Taylor...and if we don't trade for Allen...he will continue to be awesome. But Rahim is great. He can be a small forward as well. Then we wouldn't need to sign Posey again!!! If we don't want to...we still got Nachbar and Morris and Rice is still able to shoot and walk. Rahim's defense isn't great...but we still have Yao. Yao can continue to dominate more and more. SAR's offense is much better than Griffin's....but they declined the trade. So I guess it's over.

We can't also forget that our team has been in a scoring slump lately and Shareef would bring much needed scoring.

He is shooting .470 from the field.

Something else might be brewing. I still can't believe that the Rockets place so much faith and are willing to wait so long for Griffin's development.

What cap filler would we have given? I'm assuming that EG's 3+ mill/year contract does not come within 15% of SAR's max contract...

Then don't resign Posey or Rice. Waive them both. He can be a small forward. We also have Morris and Nachbar.

At power forward...we still have Mo Taylor and.....Kelvin Cato....and Abdur Rahim can be interchangeable.

But if we trade Mo Taylor or Cato away with Mobley for Ray Allen...then we will be shorthanded. But we would still have an awesome team. :)

Way over the payroll. If we want to win games like Dallas, we have to get good players.

Our team is looking fine right now as it is....well in this game. Just terrible referees!!!
