What's hard to do? Rooting for Curry?

I have a hard time deciding between rooting for him or Stro.

Strange how these guys can look so impressive when they're not playing the rockets. Dampier also looks pretty impressive lately.

It's possible the writer knew this but was taking liberties by taking advantage of the fact that some noted publications that *did* assign their ROY award to Yao. I seem to remember a major publication like The Sporting News (?) did give Yao the nod instead of Amare.

Amare's ROY award is totally bogus. On a faster team, and with 2.2 more mpg, Amare managed to average the same ppg, +0.6 rpg (actually a bad thing, since Amare was -0.4% in rebounding percentage), -0.7 apg, and -0.7 bpg. His overall scoring efficiency of 0.53 TS% was just about average, while Yao shot an excellent 0.57 TS%. PER says that Amare (16.2) was a lot worse than Yao (20.6), as do on/off court stats (Amare -2.6 points per 48 min, Yao +3.6). There is NO WAY anybody can argue that Amare was the better player that year.

I remember the idiotic "reasoning" behind Amare's ROY award. You see, Amare got the Suns into the playoffs that year (it wasn't because of a couple guys named Marbury and Marion), while Yao couldn't do the same for the Rockets. Even though the difference in team records was literally 1 win.

So either Knickerblogger technically made a mistake there but was "right" anyway, or they were smart enough to take liberties in this case.

I root for Stro but today is just horrible to watch. Stro got 2, count em, TWO rebounds. Good god, he's 6-10 and probably more athletic than almost every player in the league and the best he can do is 2 rebounds. Earl Boykins probably rebounds better than he does.

You gotta love a back to the basket player. I hope Curry's strong play continues. Bring back the age of dueling post players!!!

Haha please, what the hell is up with all the curry love? A big man that has less than half a block per game. 3 times more turnovers than assists, blocks, and steals combined. He is not getting any of those 20 point games cuz of his "skills". It is because Lee and the perimiter guys are freeing him up to grab a couple of extra boards and finding him open under the basket at the end of plays.

Once any team pays attention to him, his numbers will drop back down to 13 points and 5 rebounds with 6 turnovers, 0 assists, 0 steals, 0 blocks.

Eddy grabbed 10+ rebounds for each of last 3 games. His block and steal numbers are going up as well.

And I picked him up for my fantasy league right before his outburst. JACKPOT!

If that's the case, I'm going to write a blog and constantly mention how Hakeem won an MVP award for every single year he was with the Rockets - afterall, nobody would deny he was the most valuable player on the Rockets!

My point being - that's just misleading. It isn't the truth. You can't twist facts like that. Yao should have been the ROY, but he wasn't and you can't build a case on what should have been.

I think the guy just remembered Yao winning it because he probably thought Yao deserved to win it at the time. Many of us would agree with that, but it just isn't so.

Curry is playing well tonight, seems like another 30+ game. Hope the knicks can win this one.

Now, I have not had the time to watch the Knicks this season, but their play of late seems to be just as bad (or maybe worse?) than before, even with Curry's increased production.

I've read that Isiah Thomas keeps insisting that they feed the ball to Curry every single time. Is this true? And if it is, has their play improved at all? Or at least shown some signs of progress? I want to know if Curry's play is actually helping out the team or not.

In the past 2 games that Curry has scored 30+, they've won against Milwaukee and won against Boston...

10 games with big numbers (25.4 pts, 9.3 boards), 4 wins. Only one loss was close (<5 pts).

His FG% is nice (50% or better each game). Only 10 blocks and 11 assists in the 10 game stretch, and 38 TO. Didn't face the toughest of opposing centers, and had a few doughnut teams (Bos, Was) to feast on.

The numbers are more than decent, but I doubt he's turned any corners. He had similar stretches in Chicago, and continually regressed. At his absolute best he's not much different than Zach Randolph.

He's a blackhole and the Knicks success is based on how he feels.

There aren't any discipline or team building skills being worked on him, so it can't be repeated if he's traded to another team.

i see curry as a shaq-lite. he is able to dominate people he outweighs by shoving himself into ideal scoring positions.

i think shaq and now curry get too much praise. sure they can score a lot but it is not due to skill. these guys don't have a lot of post moves. they are strong, heavy and aggresive. hakeem was lighter than most centers. but he had a skilled game. yao has the weight but he relies more on his skills than power. but it's damn nice to have both. :D
