He was viewed as being selfish after immediately requesting a trade after he was drafted.

If he wasn't, don't you think the Grizz could have gotten more than what the Rockets gave them?

You IMPLIED that. You said that its possible that the rest of Francis' teamates might have gone and visited him, but that the media is not reporting it because it would not be a big story.

Furthermore, you said "don't let the media manipulation fool you".
You are flat out saying that the media is conspiring to intentionally keep Francis' teamates out of the news because they aren't the draw that he is.

And no, I don't agree with you. Seeing as how not one person has talked to Eddie since yesterday morning's events, if someone talked to him before Francis did, I would be 100% confident that the media is not going to ignore it because whoever went to visit him is not as well known or is as big of a draw as Steve.

It was the buter, in the study, with the candle stick holder ................ lol

    Explain...

What was I wrong about? The fact that there may be other players on the Rockets who called EG, yet it's not public matter? So we should give praise to Francis, because it's out in the public. But just ignore the other players?

    Good logic.

I singled out Francis cause he is the best player on the team and even he is not untouchable. The players got too complacent under Rudy T. Now it is time to work.

In the article in today's Chronicle, it said that several Rockets players tried to call EG, to no avail. Oddly enough, no names were mentioned.

"Teammates have been supportive publicly and privately have tried to reach out with a sympathetic voice. Griffin, however, has not returned calls."

That means that more than just SF has contacted EG. Why single out credit or praise to SF? Why are the other guys unnamed?

As I expected: he's a character risk because he doesn't want to play in Vancouver. (a wise decision, as eventually even the NBA decided it didn't want to play in vancouver either)

That and eddies checkered history of getting into fights with his teammates are perfect analogues? Right...sure they are, except for the fact that they're not.

Because this wasn't only about contacting EG. It was about trying to move past this so the focus could be on basketball. Apparently Steve has now, not only been in touch with Eddie, but also with Rockets Management. Steve, the player, is taking the initiative to help solve this mess. Ultimately he can't solve it and it's between Eddie and the Rockets organization, but Steve is helping to facilitate the whole process. That's why I used it as an example of leadership.

Steve talking to EG, if true, seems to be the 1st good sign of 2 things. Steve is a leader off the floor - very good sign. And I think and hope EG will listen to good, straight talk from someone his age that he respects as well as open up more. Somethings are better taken hearing it from and telling it to a respected friend than a mother, coach or gm.

Wow. So now 610 and, AND, the Houston Chronicle are only giving credit to Francis because he is one of the biggest draws on the team.

Two major media outlets in Houston are intentionally not mentioning the good deeds of Francis' teamates.

BTW, I am sure just about every person that Eddie knows has been trying to contact him but were unsuccessful. How dare the Chronicle and 610 not mention all 100 of their names and only mention the name of the one person that was successful in contacting him.

    Is that you Oliver Stone??

No, just give him some credit simply because he didn't have to do sh*t.

If you were drowning and codell, SamFish, FranchiseB, Smokey and I all jumped in in an attempt to save you doesn't codell deserve credit regardless of whether or not the rest of us get mentioned?

Whatever. My final point is that there are other players who are putting in effort to help EG out, not just Steve. I just think it's funny when fans of one player make a situation as sad as this into a reason to hype up their favorite Rocket, when the entire team probably deserves "credit".

If you don't agree with me that there is more support than just Francis and the Rockets management for EG, then we'll have to agree to disagree.

    YES.

You just made my entire point... That the entire team deserves "credit" for trying to help out EG.

Is Steve not a part of the team?

    Where's his credit?

Wow. I had never heard that.
Thank you so much for the info.

I think I'll go punch my daughter's stuffed bear. Then, when my wife asks me to close the window in the next room because of the draft, I'll refuse to go.

"Another room!", I'll say... ""I'll close the window in the other room! There is no way I'm going into that other one!"

    "Why not??", she'll ask.

And I'll reply, "Because it's cold in there!".

Perhaps the neighbors will overhear and I'll get a reputation as unruly, unreasonable, violent, addicted and mad as a hatter.

Wait... I have that reputation already, at least in the mind of the kid down the street. My son said he heard him tell a friend of his friend's friend on the next block.

My life is over as I once knew it.

If I jump in the water and try and save someone from drowning, but cant, while someone else does, do I receive credit for SAVING him or TRYING TO save him???

Eddie's teamates were given credit for trying. Francis was given credit for actually talking with him.

Nowhere, just like the fact that none of this teammates got credit either.

As I look back, this argument is stupid from both sides. Bottom line is that EG's life is going down the toilet, whether or not SF or his other teammates called him. Ultimately, EG himself will need to decide to grow up.

Then I guess EG should answer his phone when his other teammates call...

    :p

    king911 = pinetree = friendly fan

    this points to it:

    - registration date
    - posting frequency
    - abrasiveness
    - well-spokenness (if that is a word)
