At the beginning of the month I posted a huge statistical analysis about how the Rockets are better off without Tracy McGrady. In that post I never suggested we trade TMac and mentioned I hoped he would prove me wrong and he has in a convincing way. While the timing of this post is suspect because of TMacs huge game last night, I will say that my stance has been changing more and more game by game. He has played very well in the scheme of the offense and appears to be more motivated on the defensive side. The point of this post is to eat crow, thank TMac for proving me a fool, and to man up and tell the board I was simply wrong.
Well said sir !!! But don't be surprised if people still toss it in your grill. Da "Langhi" Dakota DD
I just like the fact that TMac actually drives to the basket more now, I got sick of watching him jack-up ill advised three's.
That was truly vintage T-Mac last night. He played with the swagger. Nobody was going to stop him last night. The way he just pulls up for a three right in the defenders face is down right disgusting. T-Mac should be fined for that.
I liked how he basically admitted that the team was leaving him behind and that he had to catch up...... And is now coming out 30 minutes prior to the game and actually warming up...something he never did before. Tmac has bought it.....HALLELUIAUH !!! DD
Most of us that complained just wanted TMac to be more aggresive, mix his long range game with some drives to the rim. I am glad to see the TMac prove me wrong and he has changed his game to fit in with what the Rockets have going.
Im really happy to hear that too. When Bill mentioned it last night, i thought to myself that this can give Tmac more energy to start off games, since warming up before the game is similiar to heating up the engine on a cold winter day,for it to run well ofcourse. And this also means more driving to the basket (MORE DUNKS TOO! ) because he doesn't need to loosen up DURING the game anymore. Let's go Rockets!:O Tmac, show them what they've been missing.
Don't let a few games fool you, He has yet to do what he has been doing for a good week for the entire season...
I don't think it is necessary to eat crow. Tmac was stinking it up early on. He was taking ill advised shots and not driving. He wasn't running any kind of motion offense. He wasn't looking for Yao as much and he was controlling the ball way too much of the time running down the clock and then jacking up jumpers. There is no denying those things. Why I don't know. Perhaps he felt this team couldn't win without him doing it all. Clearly now he sees this team can win without him. ANd if he plays a team game that still depends on him but is not solely dependent on him we are even better. He deserves credit for making that transformation. He is playing as good as I have sen him as a Rocket. Last Night he looked better than anyone in the league not named Kobe. No one in their right mind would ever trade that TMac. He has bought into the team game and right now the Rockets look like the best team in the league. (Okay you probably have to throw the Lakers in there and maybe Phoenix and Detroit) . So hats off to TMac and keep it up. If you want to call that eating crow then fine. But I have to say crow taste pretty good right now especially with some championship champagne.
I'm like this guy.... For doggin Rafer...but there are 20,000 others on this board that should join me for some delicious crow.
Okay I'll eat crow for that. I hated when Rafer was brought back. He is playing very well and deserves his props.
I wish others would come out and admit that they was wrong about this team. So I take my hat off to you because most people don't like to admit where they're wrong.
i cant lie i did doubt tmac but its because i have a love-hate relationship with him ....so when he plays like the lazy tmac i hate him but when he plays like the allstar tmac im one of his biggest fans i guess i expect him to be on his A-game all the time
I'd hold off on that crow dinner just yet. The fact that Tmac actually showed up to play (for a change) is a good thing but he still has yet to show that he can be counted on to carry this team forward in the playoffs when it counts. Yes, he was magnificent last night but where has that version of Tmac been for the majority of this season? Why can't he bring it like this every game? As I've said before, it's well past time for Tmac to start living up to his rep and to start playing up to his salary level. Put it this way: in LA, they NEVER have these types of discussions about Kobe Bryant yet ever since McGrady showed up in Houston, we've had to question his drive, his will to win AND his heart. Oh, he can talk the talk alright (It's On Me) but we are STILL waiting to see if he can walk the walk. Last night was a good step but I want to see that Tmac play like that in the playoffs before I start believing that he can make this team into a championship contender.
Nobody remembers but he started off the season like that. Even lead the league in PPG for a little bit. He was doing great up until he got hurt again. When T-Mac is fully healthy, he brings his A game. The problems start when he isn't healthy.
Can I just give a puke-out to my man Charles Barkley for calling McGrady a "ballstopper" in the half court. I mean, Chuck did everything but eat the ball.
