If you have already voted, please participate in the poll. No need to put down who you voted for or why, unless you really want to.

    I voted today.

I voted Monday. Since early voting began, close to a quarter million people have voted in Clark county. Just today (friday) the number was around 30,000. For anyone wondering, NW Las Vegas valley and Henderson are usually republican. The rest of the valley is Democrat or Independent.

for the first time i voted all democrat.

living in austin, i usually find myself voting republican, as the democrats are just too far left.

where a republican was running unopposed, i left it blank. i cannot vote for any of them with they way things have gone the last 4 years.

in austin we have a light rail vote too - i voted no. its a horrible waste of money and it was defeated in 2000. i expect the same again.

Why do you say it is a waste of money? :(

    Too few people helped.
Doesn't seem like it would eleviate that much traffic.

Light rail in Austin would need the following destinations to win a vote in Austin:

    1) Airport
    2) UT Campus
    3) Downtown
    4) 6th street
    5) Dell
    6) Pickle
    7) An area is West Austin to serve as a park and ride.
    8) An area in East Austin to serve as a park and ride.

It would be a long term plan, but I don't think the majority of Austinites will go for helping the people in West Austin without the first 4 being addressed first.

capital metro (who is pushing for this) estimate that they will have 1,000 to 1,500 riders. that is not enough to significantly reduce traffic on 183.

light rail will cost 10,000 per rider/year.

all the stops and train crossings going thru town will screw up everyone else.

    Fair enough.

I often wonder what the south would have been like had the rail way system that blossomed ante bellum America. One of the things I loved about Germany, Holland as well as many European cities is their efficient and diverse mass transit system. These mass transit systems are usually a big boost for the lowly in our society as well as the middle class. I dream of a time when the south will be able to boast of outstanding mass transit systems in my lifetime. I do not like the over dependence on automobiles for numerous reseasons.

Voted last Thursday at the Power Center, 4PM. About 150 people in line but it moved quickly. 15-20 voting machines in the voting room. About a half hour wait. I'm glad I didn't wait until Tuesday.

Austin does have good mass transit if you didn't know. The rail system is just silly though.

    Voted absentee last Monday. Kerry!

Will be volunteering tomorrow to drive elderly people to the polls in Scranton, PA (about an hour and a 1/2 drive from NYC). Have to be there at 7AM. Going to be a long day but, hopefully fun!

Saw on the local "news" that Harris County set an early voting record. About twice as many people voted this year than in 2000.

That is fantastic news. The more politically engaged Americans are, the better we all are.
