So for the past 18 or so hours, my ear has felt like as if I just stepped off an airplane without my ears popping. Problem is, I haven't been higher than maybe 1 foot above the ground today. I've tried chewing gum, holding my nose and trying to exhale (probably causing more pain than I already had), taken some Robitussin (Cold and Allergy), and some Advil. No nasal spray around, I'm going to assume it may have something to do with allergies as I've been coughing up loogies all weekend long, and blowing out more snot than you can find under a kindergartener's desk.

My head (well, my ear) feels like it's going to explode. Yawning comes with mixed results, a long forced yawn sometimes helps, but others just make it worse.

I rarely get sick/injured, so I become about as able/whiny as a 3 year old when it comes to dealing with any pain. So, help?

I feel like Fatty whenever he starts a new thread that gets nothing but sarcastic answers. Maybe I should at least break my foot or something, then post about it. :(

I went through basically the same thing this past week. I just ignored it and it went away after five or six days. Of course I'd advise going to a doctor and not being stubborn like myself. No telling what it might be.

Sounds like an ear infection. I used to get those all the time when I was a little kid. Go see a doctor. you'll probably end up taking some antibiotics.

Probably is some sort of ear infection, especially if you are having so many sinus problems. Or maybe blockage or something.

Actifed is the best and strongest antihistamine over the counter -- it will work better than Robotussin.

Get some grain alcohol (or the highest percentage rubbing alcohol off the self) and use an eye dropper to put some in each ear -- one at a time obviously with your head turned sideways. This will help displace fluid trapped around your ear canal.

When you valsalvo (blow to clear your ears) make sure it is just a quick strong blow and your nose is totally sealed. Don't do it for a long period of time -- if they are going to clear it will happen fast otherwise you will just push more fluid against the inside of your eardrum. Don't do this until after the actifed has dryed up and drained some of the fluid in your ears.

It could be a build-up of earwax impacted against the tympanic membrane. It feels like your ear is closed up, and can be quite painful. You can get something to flush the ear canal at your local pharmacy, but if that doesn't work, your doctor should be able to clear the blockage.

Does the popping go off right after you talk or with sharp sounds?

It doesn't really hurt right now, but my right ear feels like it's plugged up.
